Manager in Training
Job Purpose
Job Summary
This role will shadow store salaried leadership for a specified period, while training for a salaried manager role of: Customer Service Manager, Store Merchandise Manager or Fresh Manager. In this position associate will take an active role in assisting store leadership in building a R.E.A.L. culture that promotes trust and positive work relationships in service of Our Purpose and Way of Being. This role will assist store leadership in fostering a diverse and inclusive shopping experience for our associates and customers and role model all SEG leadership behaviors. This role will assist store leadership in effectively leading, managing and developing store and/or department operations and associates to maximize sales and profitability.

Shadow and assist store leadership in achieving operational goals (OSAT, compliance, inventory, audit standards)
Maintain a safe, compliant and operationally sound store by following all company guidelines and procedures.
Complete all required training items: Gnome modules, Training Maps & Checklists, My Leadership Journey Book for daily activities and skills application, Putting it All Together” project, Retail Leader Certification.
Role model and coach associates on Way of Being, Purpose and how to be R.E.A.L. with each other, our customers and in the communities we serve.
Support store leadership achieve financial goals (sales, gross profit, EBITDA) P&L
Be engaged in the training program and complete all assignments
Take responsibility for your own development by seeking out information and sharing any obstacles in your learning.

Minimum of 3 years of proven leadership with managing teams.
Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently.
Ability to travel to district training store and the leadership workshops for the length of the program.
Ability to complete the program uninterrupted

At least 2 years proven leadership in a supermarket.
Proficient with computer applications used in effectively operating the department.
Strong customer service skills
Exceptional interpersonal, motivational communication skills.
Compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Possession of Food Safety Certification or the ability to obtain same within 180 days of placement.

Retail - General Heavy: Physical Demands: While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand or walk on various types of flooring, utilize manual dexterity, talk, see, hear, smell and perform repetitive movements with both hands and/or both feet. The employee is frequently required to reach at waist level or overhead, carry, push, or lift various loads up to the required weights listed. The employee is occasionally required to sit, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and climb up to 30 ft. Working Conditions: While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee may be exposed to working in indoor, outdoor, cold, freezing, heated, and wet/humid working conditions. Safety Risk Factors: The employee is frequently required to twist back and/or neck, walk on a slippery or cluttered floor surface, work with hazardous equipment and be exposed to sharp objects.
