Job Description

Director of Talent & Culture

We are seeking an energetic and highly motivated individual to fill a key support position on our Talent & Culture team as a Director of Human Resources at our American Canyon, CA location. This individual will also provide guidance and support to our Paso Robles, CA, Santa Maria, CA, and our Sherwood, OR locations.

Our Talent & Culture team works to provide outstanding support to our internal customers. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to serve as a trusted partner to the business, and operate proactively, with energy and a real sense of urgency. Your leadership, business acumen and interpersonal skills will be critical. This role will report to the VP of Talent & Culture. This person must be able to work independently while also being able to partner with colleagues onsite and in other locations.

What you’ll be doing:

Employee Relations:

  • Appropriately respond to employee and manager inquiries and concerns regarding Talent & Culture policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Build strong relationships with employees and management.
  • Advise leaders and employees of proper HR policies and practices.


Onboarding:

  • Responsible for successful onboarding for office and warehouse personnel at our American Canyon, CA, Santa Maria, CA, and Paso Robles, CA locations.
  • Prepare leaders and new hires for the onboarding process.
  • Draft all offer letters and appropriate paperwork for the new hire.
  • Send onboarding packet via HRIS, Paycom, and collect all new hire paperwork.
  • Coordinate and lead new hire orientation on-site in American Canyon, CA, and virtually for Santa Maria, CA and Paso Robles, CA.

Offboarding:

  • Handle the offboarding process for all office and warehouse personnel in American Canyon, CA, Paso Robles, CA, Santa Maria, CA, and Sherwood, OR.
  • Prepare and collect offboarding paperwork.
  • Coordinate with Payroll for final pay.
  • Coordinate and lead exit interviews.
  • Administer COBRA.

Talent & Culture Support:

  • Main point of contact for employee and manager inquiries for American Canyon, CA, Santa Maria, CA, Paso Robles, CA, and Sherwood, OR locations.
  • Maintain and process California and Oregon unemployment claims.
  • Partners with Talent & Culture and Payroll on any compensation changes or payroll updates.
  • Administer leave of absence procedure for California and Oregon.
  • Employee safety for office and warehouse personnel.
  • Undertake tasks around performance management and assists with the annual employee performance review process.
  • Reports, maintains and monitors California and Oregon workers' compensation case files; follows-up on open cases.
  • Assist with the administration of employee benefits, which may include collecting and submitting employee information and a notice of change in status to health, dental, and other insurance-related information.
  • Support Talent & Culture on company wide initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all necessary company policies and state/federal regulations.

Employee Engagement:

  • Coordinate and lead company events with the help of the Executive Assistant and Communications & Engagement Specialist.
  • Participate in the wellness committee and coordinate wellness events.
  • Source and decorate office and warehouse space for various holidays and seasonality.
  • Maintain and coordinate employee recognition programs.


Who you are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • 10 or more years’ human resources experience, including onboarding, employee relations, and employee engagement.
  • Proven experience and successfully led a role in the Human Resources Department.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations’ HRIS and talent management system.
  • Experience with a fulfillment/warehousing environment.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Contribute to a strong culture of collaboration and service.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
