Description

This role is responsible for the design, machining, and repair to Welding fixtures, drill fixtures and metal stamping dies utilized in the manufacture and/or welding of metal parts in a fabrication environment.

The following is indicative of the essential functions, qualifications, experience and physical abilities required to perform the job. Other duties may be assigned.

• Analyzes available product/tooling prints for determining the manufacturing process steps required.
• Assists manufacturing in the determination of tooling/fixturing/dies needed for the manufacturing process.
• Manufactures tooling for manufacturing and/or welding process using a variety of metal working machines including manual lathe, Bridgeport, surface grinders and other similar machine shop equipment.
• Works with a variety of metals using the appropriate feeds, speeds and tooling.
• Documents parts machined for implementation into a blueprint for future repair or remanufacture.
• Maintains and assigns tooling numbers to fixtures for validation/verification
• Analyzes, repairs and determines labor estimate of tooling/fixtures/dies utilized in the manufacturing process
• Proficient in blueprint reading and working knowledge of precision measuring tools such as Micrometers, Calipers, Dial Indicators ect.
• Determines the appropriate tooling requirements and makes request based on cost effectiveness and speed of machining.
• Experience in machining different materials including Stainless Steel, Aluminum, mild steel and tool steels.
• Must have own tools.

• Physically able to lift 70 lbs. Must be able to handle non-climate-controlled environment including metal dust, paint odors, loud noises, standing/ bending.

• Excellent math skills add, subtract, multiply, divide, and use of trigonometry
• Able to communicate and brainstorm ideas between a variety of departments with differing opinions.
• Solid soft skills such as communication, initiative, and punctuality.
• Follows projects from start to finish with a pre-determined timeline
• Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED required. Vocational school. 10 years experience in machine shop environment
• Must have own tools
