Wilmington Country Club is Hiring a Banquet Manager Near Wilmington, DE

Wilmington Country Club, a private country club located in Wilmington, is the oldest and most prestigious country club in Delaware. Its primary emphasis is on meeting the desires of its members, their families and their personal guests. We are currently seeking a full-time Special Events Coordinator to join our staff. This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of social events booked at the Club and to ensure the event's success. Position entails making recommendations associated with events, coordinating logistics and special events management. Successful candidate must be creative and enthusiastic with a dynamic personality. Must have previously planned unique and exciting events and activities, and must demonstrate solid examples of such. This is a highly visible leadership role that must convey confidence and authority. A full benefits package, onsite parking, and free meals are part of the perks of the position. The hours are flexible and based on the events taking place. The incumbent must be willing to work irregular hours consisting of weekends, evenings, and some holidays.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for planning and coordinating special events including private functions, parties and other family social events
  • Coordinate the planning, set-up, organization, follow-up and management of special events
  • Comfortable planning and executing events at the highest level
  • Work with current staff to elevate skills as well as hire and train new staff members
  • Maintain high levels of interaction with existing members and guests
  • Coordinate and maintain administrative paperwork related to special events
  • Must be required to work irregular hours to include weekends, evenings, and some holidays to oversee events
  • Available to assist in the a la carte operations as needed

EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 3 years of previous events planning experience working in a professional environment
  • Successful candidate must be creative and enthusiastic
  • Knowledge of menu planning, food presentation, and skilled in banquet and event service operations
  • Experience planning and executing large banquet events
  • Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Word & Excel

· Excellent written and oral communications skills

· Strong guest services skills

· Prior event sales experience a plus

OTHER REQUIRED NEEDS:

· Ability to prioritize, multitask and work independently.

· Commitment to work schedule

· Must be able to bend and ability to lift at least 25 pounds.

· Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Events Management, or equivalent work experience.
