Reporting directly to an IT Director, responsible for managing and maintaining technological security solutions, ensuring protection of county devices, data, and networks.

• Manages security protocols and enforcement across network edge, internal devices, and managed external devices and/or services, as well as 3rd party hosted services
• Provides and maintains security on connections to the wide-area network
• Monitors and enforces security protocols on endpoints and devices
• Manages virus protection and remediation software, intrusion detection, and prevention devices
• Manages Virtual Private Network (VPN) connections and remote access tools
• Configures and manages device and transport encryption, data-loss prevention, packet inspection, and other related systems
• Provides escalated technical consulting and support services related to security issues
• Researches and recommends security enhancements to senior ITS staff
• Performs special duties as assigned

ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; and five (5) years of experience supporting enterprise-level information technology systems and hardware with three (3) years in an IT security role
• Working knowledge of specific job-related technology
• Possess and maintain a personally-owned mobile device capable of receiving calls, text messages, and email

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Required within thirty (30) days of employment

• Valid Texas driver’s license

Preferred

• Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification
• Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) certification
• Security certification

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Position involves prolonged sitting at a workstation, reaching, walking, twisting, bending, repetitive motions, standing, and occasional lifting.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS

• Work is primarily indoors in an air-conditioned environment
• Regular travel between work sites, as required
