Responsibilities

The CNC Machinist job responsibilities include working with the Value Added Specialists in Machining and Inspection of all machined component orders and completion of documentation to satisfy Customer and Quality System requirements.

  • Overview customer purchase orders to the DMI internal sales order worksheet. All aspects of the worksheet and customer purchase order must agree including the specification, part number, purchase order number, grade, size, quantity, ship to, bill to, etc.
  • Reading and interpreting customer drawings, blueprints and/or customer contracts.
  • Convert metric to inches on new drawings.
  • Review and prepare necessary documentations as the orders are processed through the system.
  • Review bearing Customer specifications.
  • Set-up, Programming and operation of the lathe.
  • Set-up, Programming and operation of the milling machine.
  • Responsible for CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) programming.
  • 100% Visual Inspection of all machine components.
  • Per Customer requirements or sampling plan dimensional inspection of all machine components using measuring instruments such as micrometers, dial calipers, Sunnen Gauge, Profilometer and CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine).
  • Completion of the final inspection report for submission with parts to customer.
  • Packaging of all finished parts for shipping.
  • Preventive maintenance of inspection equipment.
  • Any additional duties assigned by the President or Quality Control Manager.
  • Follow all safety rules as outlined in the Company Safety Manual.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals, technical procedures and governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers or employees of the organization. Ability to interpret prints. Ability to use measuring instruments such as micrometers, dial calipers, Sunnen Gauge, Profilometer, CMM.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: 1)Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations and also where only limited standardization exists

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including word-processing and spreadsheets.
