General Description

The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for providing high quality SLP services to inpatients, outpatients regularly, and school-based children as established.

Essential Job Duties

• Performs evaluations, re-evaluations, treatments, and discharges that meet the current standards of the field and of the hospital.
• Performs all required documentation up to current standards.
• Assures continuation of the therapeutic plan following discharge by designing and instructing patients, families, and caregivers in the plan.
• Communicates effectively with co-workers, patients, and family members.
• Able to perform and document Modified Barium Swallow Studies.
• Completes assigned hospital education and competencies on time and without reminders.
• Demonstrates accountability and attention to detail when handling and documenting medical information.
• Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Provides a minimum of one in-service to the public and peers per year.
• Maintains professional license.

Other Job Duties

• Actively participates in team discussions and planning.
• Assist Rehab Director in building programs related to Speech/Language.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s degree in speech-language pathology is required.
• Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) required.
• BLS Certification.
• SLP currently licensed by the State of Arizona.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

Frequent standing, sitting, stooping, bending, stretching, squatting, play activity (pediatric treatments) Must be able to stand/walk for up to 40% of the workday; Must be able to work paying close attention to detail with some interruptions.
