WHOLE FOODS MARKET is Hiring a Regional HR Director Near Marlborough, MA

Provides leadership and oversight to the Business Partner team. Ensures effective partnering with teams and organizational leaders to develop people and related organizational strategies that integrate with and support business strategies, goals, and objectives. Oversees the provision of coaching and advice to leaders in support of building effective teams and addressing Team Member Relations matters. Consults with company leaders on areas including organizational design, talent development, workforce planning, talent acquisition, rewards, training, leadership development, and performance management. Serves as the client face of TMS, liaising with other TMS functions, including Recruiting, Talent Management. Learning & Development, Compensation, Benefits, HRIS, and Shared Services Operations to ensure effective and integrated support. Ensures compliance with corporate policies and with government regulations and statutory requirements.

The Regional HR Director (Executive Leader [EL], Team Member Services [TMS]) will lead the Regional HR team for Whole Foods Market in the North Atlantic (NA) Region. The region encompasses 44 stores and more than 8,000 Team Members. The position offices in our NA Regional Office in Marlborough, Massachusetts; however, in this hybrid role, the EL will spend 40% of their time traveling primarily around the region and at the Regional Office, while a portion of the job can be performed remotely. This is both a strategic and tactical role, focused on daily delivery of top-notch HR Business Partnership to Regional and Store Leadership, while helping to drive the Human Resources function forward with strategic contributions to Company HR Centers of Excellence, policy and practice alignment. This leader will partner with teams and organizational leaders to execute people and organizational strategies that integrate with and support business strategies, goals, and objectives.
The TMS EL is an experienced leader who provides oversight to the HR Business Partner team in 5 states and oversees the provision of coaching and advice to leaders in support of building effective teams and addressing Team Member Relations matters.
The EL contributes to Global Centers of Excellence providing feedback on initiatives including organizational design, talent development, workforce planning, talent acquisition, total rewards, training, HR operations, leadership development, and performance management. For the region, the EL ensures compliance with corporate policies, government regulations and statutory requirements.
The EL leads a team of 4 direct reports and 16 indirect reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads day-to-day HR function with a focus on resolving complex Team Member Relations issues, developing HR talent and supporting Regional Leadership with a strong HR Partnership that promotes balanced solutions that support the business while promoting Team Member growth and happiness.
  • Involved in adapting and executing business-focused HR strategies within the region.
  • Provides advice and counsel to client leadership on the full range of Human Resources concerns, issues
  • Partners with legal and ER (Employee Relations) to support sensitive Team Member investigations.
  • Leads HR departmental leadership to ensure HR services are adapted, applied, and delivered in a manner that supports current and anticipated client business objectives
  • Influences strategic planning, ensuring integration and alignment of Human Resource functions, initiatives, and processes
  • Identifies future needs and skill gaps within Human Resources and Operations to develop talent management plans and address identified needs.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • BA/BS degree with 10 years of progressive HR Leadership experience, with a recent role leading HR activities in a multi-state, multi-unit environment, having supported a base of 5,000 or more Team Members. 
  • Graduate degree and certification preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Federal, State and Local statutes for all jurisdictions within the region
  • A demonstrated ability to balance Company and Team Member interests
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HR programs and processes, including Team Member Relations, Compensation, Benefits, Talent Development and Acquisition, Learning & Development, and HRIS
  • Comprehensive knowledge of retail food industry Human Resources objectives, challenges, and requirements in a multi-unit environment
  • Outstanding interpersonal, influential and leadership skill to engage with stakeholders to design, maintain, and champion the mission, vision, and strategy of the region and organization
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with senior-level stakeholders to define, clarify and resolve issues related to Business Partner’s objectives, processes and outcomes
  • Ability to shift comfortably between big picture strategic thinking and tactical leadership required to achieve outcomes
  • Ability to assess how key functions, processes, and operating models impact business and financial performance delivering recommendations on how to maximize or improve outcomes.
