WHMC Human Resources is Hiring a Physical Therapist Assistant - Full Time (Days) Near Colfax, WA

Competitive salary. Outstanding benefits. Position Summary The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) assists the physical therapist in the provision of physical therapy. The PTA is a graduate of a physical therapist assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education. The PTA may provide services under the direction and general supervision of the physical therapist. The ability of the PTA to provide services shall be assessed on an ongoing basis by the supervising physical therapist. Services provided by the PTA must be consistent with safe and legal physical therapist practice and shall be predicated on the following factors: complexity and acuity of the patient’s or client’s needs, proximity and accessibility to the physical therapist, supervision available in the event of emergencies or critical events, and type of setting in which the service is provided. The PTA makes modifications to elements of the intervention either to progress the patient or client as directed by the physical therapist or to ensure patient or client safety and comfort. The PTA at Whitman Hospital and Medical Clinics will be required to adhere to the Standards of Ethical Conduct for the Physical Therapist Assistant, which delineates the ethical obligations of all physical therapist assistants as determined by the House of Delegates of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). Position Details Full Time 80 hours per pay period (two weeks) Day Shift Promotes a Positive Working Environment Conducts oneself in line with organization’s mission, values and standards of behavior. Provides timely operational updates to supervisor. Responds to communications in a timely manner. Performs Duties Efficiently and Effectively Follows procedures. Acts in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Performs other duties as assigned. Clinical Practice Adheres to plan of care developed by the physical therapist, in conjunction with the patient and/or responsible party. Provides physical therapy in accordance to RCW 18.74, WAC 246-915, and federal regulations. Provides treatment appropriate for the stages of healing and per protocols, as indicated. Administers objective tests and measures. Functions as a patient advocate while promoting independence in mobility and self-monitoring. Notifies physical therapist regarding changes in patient status. Adheres to Universal Precautions and Infection Control policies and procedures. Adheres to technical/procedural skills. Uses appropriate body mechanics. Communicates directly with physical therapist for any clarifications in the care of the patient. Facilitates tracking of appropriate interval of physical therapist and assistant visits. Accepts feedback from supervising physical therapists in an open, respectful, and constructive manner. Documentation Documents according to Federal, State and National organization regulations and guidelines. Documentation accurately reflects subjective and objective data, patient's current status, interventions. Documentation is complete, clear, concise, and legible. Documentation reflects knowledge of application of reimbursement requirements. Documentation reflects communication with health team members, physicians, community agencies, patients, and families. Documentation is consistent with agency guidelines and directives. All documentation is completed in a timely manner defined by WHMC policy. Completes documentation within WHMC policy guidelines Other Stays abreast of changes within the industry. Consistently seeks out work that needs to be completed; works on ongoing projects; and assists others as needed. Provides weekend coverage as needed. Assists with answering phones, patient scheduling, departmental opening and closing procedures, and departmental cleaning. Required Qualifications Graduate of an accredited school for Physical Therapist Assistants, at the time of hire. WA DOH Physical Therapist Assistance Licensure or the ability to become licensed in Washington state. Certified in AHA – BLS Healthcare Provider within 30 days of hire. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
