Our quality team is in immediate need of a Quality Engineer for our heavy equipment manufacturing facility. We provide our customers with quality custom engineered and manufactured products to meet their material handling needs.

Our QA department focuses on maintaining quality throughout our system and processes, keeping customer satisfaction at the forefront.

Description:

Under the direction of the Quality Manager the QE is responsible for monitoring and improving systems and processes to produce value added work at the level of quality specified. The QE is also responsible for reporting and recording conditions adverse to quality and resolving those conditions, including warranty claims.

This is an office / shop environment. The selected person needs to be self-directed, shall follow safety rules and keep work area in a clean and orderly condition, participate in audit and improvement activities, and support/perform inspections. There is infrequent lifting of 35 lbs. PPE requirement when in shop will include safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, and where needed safety gloves.

Responsibilities:

• Provide weekly reports as to the status of quality issues and cost of quality.
• Work with suppliers and internal departments to resolve quality issues.
• < 5% Travel
• Indirect supervisory responsibility over inspectors and quality tech.
• Remain flexible with daily activities in order to address higher concerns.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager.
• Support as backup to other personnel within the department.

Qualification and Skills:

• BS in quality, mechanical, manufacturing, industrial, or electrical engineering.
• Entry level candidates will be considered, 3 years of experience preferred.
• Excellent verbal and technical writing skills.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Certified Six Sigma Green Belt a plus.
• Lean manufacturing experience a plus.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and/or ASME NQA-1 preferred.
• Good knowledge of problem solving driving to root cause; 5-why, Cause and Effect, 8D experience preferred.
• Implementation of interim and permanent corrective action.
• Ability to objectively review and quantify objective data.
• Correct use of micrometers, calipers, Pi-Tapes a plus.
• Experience in machining, welding, assembly processes preferred.
• Ability to use desktop computers and efficiently use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft 365.
• Knowledge and use of Epicor ERP system a plus.
