HeartPlace PLLC - USHV has an excellent full time employment opportunity, with benefits, for an experienced Medical Assistant - Procedure Scheduler for the White Rock HeartPlace clinic located in Dallas . Prior recent cardiology experience and obtaining medical prior authorizations is required.. General Summary Schedules patient appointments: obtains new patient insurance information, verifies patient demographics, obtains updated insurance on established patients as first point of contact. Principal Duties and Responsibilities 1. Responsible for scheduling, rescheduling and cancelling all procedure(s). 2. Contacts area facility for available time for procedure. 3. Educates patient on all aspects of the procedure that is scheduled. 4. Schedules all pre-op clearance appointments with PCP or specialist. 5. Coordinates all paperwork needed to facility (Including: complete order sets, H &Ps and imaging). 6. Coordinates surgical representative through HIPAA compliant channels. 7. Works with physician to keep pre-operative, surgical protocols updated. 8. Schedules all initial follow-up appointments from procedure. 9. Completes informed consents. 10. Call in prescriptions according to MD protocol for procedure. 11. Scans/sorts all documentation related to completion of duties. 12. Other duties as assigned. 13. Follow all OSHA and other safety guidelines. 14. Maintains current CPR and Medical Assistant certification. 15. At all times protects the confidentiality of protected health information (PHI) of patients per HIPAA regulations. 16. Actively demonstrates teamwork at all times. 17. Works onsite within the clinic during scheduled hours. Regular attendance is an essential part of this role. 18. May be required to move between locations as needed. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. Graduate from an accredited program for Medical Assistants. 3. Medical Assistant Certification or must be able to obtain within 90 days of hire date. 4. Current BLS Certification. 5. At least two years of clinical experience in a medical assistant/procedure scheduling role, preferably at a Cardiology practice. 6. Fluently speak, read, and write English. 7. Understanding of OSHA requirements in a clinical setting 8. Understanding of HIPAA requirements. 9. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 10. Ability to meet physical demands of the job which include, but are not limited to: standing, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting, transporting supplies or equipment, walking for extended periods of time, and occasionally lifting and carrying items which may weigh up to 50 pounds. 11.
