JOB TITLE: Process Engineer

Job Summary:

The Process Engineer needs to be a creative, energetic, self-motivated, self-starter with the desire to champion Continuous Improvement for all of WDW! manufacturing processes. Provide efficient solutions to the development of processes and products. They can work on all stages of product and process development, from research and development to design and manufacture, through to installation/implementation.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Manufacturing Process Engineering – Develops, designs, and implements machinery that allows for the most efficient and productive manufacturing processes of our products. The process engineer is responsible for identifying and correcting opportunities to make the company manufacture at a high level. Responsibilities may include:

  • Designing and implementing cost-effective equipment modifications to help improve safety, reliability, and throughput.
  • Develops a project specification with colleagues, often including those from other engineering disciplines
  • Discusses and solves complex problems with manufacturing departments, sub-contractors, suppliers, and customers
  • Develops manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling, and installing components.
  • Prepares product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Completes projects by training and guiding technicians.
  • Use root cause analysis to improve asset reliability and reduce line breakdowns.
  • Support and advise the manufacturing teams with technical advice supported with factual data.
  • Assemble and trouble shoot equipment from assembly drawings, wiring diagrams and equipment BOMs.
  • Install safety systems following the Guidelines in the Equipment Commissioning Checklist
  • Provide in-house training to the Maintenance Technicians for trouble shooting and diagnostics of automated equipment.
  • Prepare specifications and standard operation instructing for processes and equipment.
  • Support production in day-to-day trouble shooting and problem solving of equipment and process failure.
  • Travel, as necessary.

Manufacturability – The Process Engineer is responsible for recommending and implementing solutions to create products designed for manufacturing. The Process Engineer is in a face paced changing environment and is responsible to balance quality, productivity, and manufacturability. Responsibilities may include:

  • Makes sure a product can be made again reliably and will perform consistently in specified operating environments
  • Recommends modifications following prototype test results.
  • Develops mechanical and electromechanical products by studying customer requirements; researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials; soliciting observations from operators.

Project Management - End-to-end project management responsibility from defining customer requirements thru to a successful hand-off to the operations team. Responsibilities may include:

  • Leads continuous improvement efforts by assisting the Operations Department to safely and effectively manage the Plant Engineering ensuring optimum conditions for operations of equipment and other plant assets within established operation standards
  • Facilitates implementation of new processes, machines, or concepts
  • Work with automation suppliers on specific automation requirements and problems.
  • Working with potential suppliers to develop agreed to equipment/machine specifications.
  • Develop / manage project timeline and report progress to appropriate TeamMates.
  • Work closely with suppliers and answer any questions relative to the project.
  • Reconcile project expenses once the project is complete.

Quality Engineering - Understands SQF / ISO requirements /Quality Policy. Always follow work instructions and procedures as established through Quality Policy. Responsibilities may include:

  • Helps respond to customer inquiries about products and quality concerns as applicable
  • Provides training to other operators, electricians, and mechanics necessary on products, processes

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Troubleshooting, installation, and commissioning.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft programs and basic computer skills.
  • Ability to travel Internationally as necessary to assist with equipment installation, startup, and service.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • 3-5 Years progressive Engineering experience
  • Initiative and ability to manage simultaneous projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of commercialization processes (concept generation through manufacturing)
  • Experience working with plastic injection and reheat stretch/extrusion presses a plus
  • Understands financial modeling and value analysis
  • Project management and subject matter expert support to recommend and implement approved solutions; and develop related training and briefing products.

  • Prolonged periods of standing or sitting.
  • Occasional lifting to 45 pounds.
  • Occasional pulling, pushing, and lifting
