Job Summary:

Participates in the programming and machining of tooling to support the company objectives and strategies and meet or exceed internal and regulatory Quality Standards.

Duties/Responsibilities:

CNC Programming Responsible to program new components that can be used to machine components to support Manufacturing and Quality. Components should be made so all equipment/molds they are used in meet internal and regulatory Quality Standards and promotes a high level of manufacturing efficiency. Duties may include:

  • With some supervision can program machine instructions in symbolic language to regulate movement of machine along cutting path for Mills and Lathes.
  • With some supervision can setup own tooling in CNC Program for Mills and Lathes.
  • Can read blueprints and understands 3D programming from Engineering Files.
  • Compares computer printout with original program sheet to assure accuracy of machine instructions.
  • Revises program to eliminate instruction errors or omissions.
  • Observes operation of machine on trial run to prove programmed instructions.

MachinistResponsible for collaborating with Machine Shop Manager and Engineering staff to provide machined components to support Manufacturing and Quality. Duties may include:

  • Safely maintain production equipment and meet the department’s scheduled preventive maintenance obligations while assisting with machining projects.
  • Completes training on setting up and operating manual lathes, band saws, milling machines, bend sanders, drill press, and to construct and or repair metal and / or plastic components.
  • Can work on high tolerance ( /-.001) projects with little supervision.
  • Disassembling, assembling, inspections, and cleaning of components that are being manufactured within high tolerance.
  • Proper operation of overhead crane and ability to operate a forklift is required.
  • Build and/or repair components as required for Auxiliary and Molding machines. Ex. EOAT, stretch rods, ejector bars, etc.
  • Build and/or repair quality gauges and equipment components as required.
  • Build and/or repair components as required for Decoration and Assembly equipment. Ex. spinweld dials, offset print mandrels, handle weld mandrels, etc.
  • Provides components free of defects and safety concerns, sharp edges, sharp points, blemishes, etc.

  • Maintains respectful working relationship with TeamMates, Decoration and Assembly Team Leaders, Decoration Team Leaders, Production Assistants to promote teamwork and a positive work environment.
  • Committed to continual Improvement to raise personal performance to meet and exceeds the standard and to develop new methods to eliminate wastes, improve productivity and reduce customer complaints.
  • Maintains excellent attendance as defined in the company’s Attendance Policy.
  • Supports and complies with all company policies and procedures, including safety and quality.
  • Submits new ideas to improve safety, quality and procedural operations that will benefit the company.
  • Actively participates in departmental meetings by providing suggestions for improvement, problem solving and offering feedback.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 1-3 years of machining experience.
  • Strong desire to learn technical manufacturing skills.
  • Operation of manual mills, grinders, lathes, and mill power within a tolerance of /- .001”.
  • Willingness to work in a collaborative workplace and like to contribute ideas to improve operations.
  • Be able to work under time pressure and prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Be able to maintain a positive and cooperative attitude daily and under deadlines.
  • Must possess above average language and math skills, basic machining knowledge and skills; and reasoning abilities.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to read blueprints (mold repair and fabrication).

Prolonged sitting, standing and moderate walking.
