In February 2021, Wheels Up entered into a merger agreement with a Special Purpose Acquisition Company (SPAC) called Aspirational Consumer Lifestyle Corp. to become a publicly traded company. At that time, Wheels Up was appraised at an enterprise valuation north of $2B. In January 2020, we entered a groundbreaking partnership with Delta, which combined Delta Private Jets to expand our fleet and offer guaranteed nationwide coverage. This enabled us to provide unparalleled experiences across private and commercial air travel. We also acquired our longtime partner Gama Aviation in March 2020, making us the largest Part 135 operator in the U.S. and one of the world's largest private aviation operators and aircraft management companies. Wheels Up is seeking a Software Development Engineer 1 to help us build and scale this revolutionary platform. The ideal candidate will have a passion for software engineering, the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and strong business acumen.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with senior and principal engineers to design, build and deliver quality technology solutions
• You will be given the chance to have a significant impact on our systems, our business and most importantly, our customers.
• As a member of the Wheels Up team, you will work closely with the business team to design and implement new features, you will use a variety of core languages and technologies including Java, C#, and React to name a few and build highly scalable services to bring the best experience to a large variety of our business
• The ideal candidate will be a leader, quick learner and be able to work independently. He/she should be able to operate in a very fast paced environment where time to hit market is super critical.
• The candidate will need to balance technical leadership and savvy with strong business judgment to make the right decisions about technology choices
• Familiar with open-source technologies such as Kubernetes, Pravega, Delta Lake, etc

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• Deep understanding and knowledge of algorithms and data structures.
• Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java or C# including object-oriented design
• Good understanding of concepts in computer science
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong customer obsession and ownership to drive projects and deliver results.
