This position enhances the work of the WFYI Community Engagement team. Through community partnerships, listening, events, volunteer and intern relationships, and work with national partners, this team extends the mission of WFYI and its many opportunities to learn from its content. This position also strengthens WFYI’s desire to listen deeply in the community so that we learn from and better serve. This position will provide administrative and coordinating support to a 5 person team, coordinating a workflow and ensuring the details are tended.

Expect up to 20 hours per week; flexible, some remote work possible.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Assist in event preparations, including the creation of collateral, hospitality coordination, guest communication, and event staffing
• Coordinate with the marketing team to implement a workflow, assist in creating and promoting engagement events and initiatives
• Seek content, and create and schedule messages for Bright By Text
• Serve as a back-up traffic manager and volunteer liaison for Indiana Reading and Information Services
• Seek and curate resources for At Home learning and other team projects

Other Functions

• Attend and actively participate in station and team meetings, posting when requested
• Represent WFYI at community events as needed
• Maintain an internal CE calendar
• Coordinate purchasing and follow up
• Other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience

Required:

• At least two years of college preparation, preferably in non-profit, human services, education, communication fields
• At least two years prior experience in human services, non-profit organizations or education
• Comfort and skills in working with people of all ages, with differing abilities, from all walks of life
• High attention to detail
• Ability to produce under deadlines
• Demonstrated skills in working on a team

Highly Desirable:

• Skills in Microsoft office products, including Word, Excel, Teams, etc.
• Experience with Canva
• Familiarity with and ability to learn, and become proficient in, new software and platforms

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

• Ability to focus on details, handle multiple tasks, and remain highly organized in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to take initiative to work independently as well as on a team to complete projects
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
