Job Summary WEX Inc is seeking a self-driven and motivated Senior Tax Accountant to join their innovative team that strives to create best-in-class processes and employ leading edge technologies. This role will primarily focus on state indirect tax matters, thus knowledge and experience with sales tax, licenses and property tax is critical to the role. This role can be based in Portland, Maine, or remote within the United States. Performance Objectives: The successful candidate will have the opportunity to: Manage and oversee preparation, submission and payment of US indirect tax returns on a monthly basis. Manage relationships with third-party providers for indirect tax compliance and subject matter experts. Oversee and manage the process of customer tax exemptions and the corresponding tax exemption certificates. Responsible for managing indirect tax technology to drive automation within the tax processes and reduce risk of manual error. Manage all indirect tax jurisdictional correspondence (exams and notices). Perform state tax research and analysis for new revenue streams and locations. Stay informed of tax laws, regulations, and rulings pertaining to indirect taxes. Attend seminars and similarly instructional events to expand knowledge of tax laws and IRS interpretations. Participate in special projects as dictated by the needs of the business. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related discipline. Masters in Tax is preferred. Minimum of 4 years related indirect tax experience required. Experience supporting tax notices and audits. Working knowledge of PC based application software with an emphasis on spreadsheet and data management skills required. Experience with Avalara and Thomson Reuters OneSource products (or similar) preferred. Strong accounting, analytical and problem solving skills. Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and flexibility. Ability to multitask and work in a fast paced deadline driven environment. The base pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual pay rates will vary and will be based on various factors, such as your qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base pay is one component of WEX's total compensation package. Most sales positions are eligible for commission under the terms of an applicable plan. Non-sales roles are typically eligible for a quarterly or annual bonus based on their role and applicable plan.
