Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging (WRAAA) is a private non-profit corporation located, organized and designated by the State of Ohio to be the planning, coordinating and administrative agency for federal and state aging programs in Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain and Medina Counties. It is one of twelve Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) in the state organized together with local service provider organizations and the Ohio Department of Aging (ODA) to form the state's public aging services network. Position Overview: A Staff Accountant is responsible for performing complex accounting needs for their employer. Their duties include data entry /bookkeeping, reviewing financial data to make forecasting decisions and communicating with company Executives about financial strategies.

Job Duties:

  • Coordinating accounting functions and programs.
  • Maintaining financial analyses, reports, records and general ledger accounts.
  • Preparing Journal Entries, analysis, and account reconciliations and assisting with monthly close process.
  • Contribute to the development and review of budgets and performance projections.
  • Reviewing and reconciling balance sheet and general ledger accounts.
  • Meeting processing and reporting deadlines.
  • Assisting with annual audit preparations.
  • Investigating and resolving audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance.
  • Contributing to the development of new or amended accounting systems, programs, and procedures.
  • Recommend ways to reduce costs and enhance revenues.
  • Assists with monthly request for funds and supporting documentations.
  • Ensuring compliance with GAAP.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • This position's primary duty is to perform work directly related to the successful operation of the Agency. Accordingly, the employee must exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.
  • All staff has the responsibility and authority to propose ways to improve quality and fully participate in quality improvement efforts.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required with 1 years of Accounting/Finance experience.
  • Knowledge of accounting rules, regulations, policies and procedures that is reflective of the financial services industry.
  • Knowledge of fund accounting (government/non-profit).
  • Proven, solid Excel skills and exposure to automated accounting system.
  • Must be detail oriented, and have the ability to prioritize job duties, multi-task, and complete assignments within deadlines so that Agency goals are met.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbally, and ability to work efficiently with others in a professional manner.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Must have current and valid Ohio driver’s license, proof of auto liability insurance, and a car available during work hours.
