WestBridge Inc is Hiring a Chef Near Manchester, NH

Description

 The Chef of the residential program will work under the direct supervision of the Residential Director. Also works with assistance and in collaboration with the other WestBridge employees and residents of the program.

The Chef will ensure a proactive approach in their work, by offering high-quality foods, including healthy entrées and snacks, in a positive manner. The Chef will also contribute to the overall program in helping to create a warm and caring atmosphere.

Primary Duties:

  • Work schedule will vary to include weekdays and Holidays which can fall on those corresponding weekdays. Full-time Chef will collaborate with the part-time Chef and team for Weekend and Holiday coverage.
  • Plans menus by studying marketing conditions, popularity of dishes, menu variety; utilizing food surpluses and leftovers.
  • Identifies current and future customer food preferences by establishing personal contact and rapport with potential and actual customers and other persons in a position to understand food requirements.
  • Customer Service Skills: General friendliness, a solution-focused attitude, being responsive and flexible.
  • Participates in open, direct, solution-focused communication with participants, families and team members.
  • Conducts Menu planning group alongside participants and with the support of residential staff.
  • Represents WestBridge in a professional and courteous manner, including: wearing appropriate chef attire.
  • Purchases foodstuffs and kitchen supplies by identifying and qualifying suppliers; negotiating prices; estimating food consumption; placing and expediting orders.
  • Prepares food by establishing nutrition and presentation standards and preparation procedures; measuring results against standards; making production adjustments.
  • Approves food preparation by observing methods of preparation; tasting and smelling prepared dishes; viewing color, texture, and garnishments; verifying portion sizes.
  • Controls costs by using readily available and seasonal ingredients; identifying and qualifying suppliers; setting standards for quality and quantity.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Maintains a clean and safe environment by implementing federal, state, and local sanitation requirements; maintaining first aid, CPR; instructing others in the use of kitchen utensils and operation of equipment.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Attends weekly Commons staff meetings as well as monthly Town Hall and Quarterly All-Staff meetings.
  • Completes Nutrition and Wellness Assessments for all participants admitted to the Commons.
  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Associates Degree or Equivalent in Culinary Arts and experience working with and preparing high-quality food.
  • Valid ServSafe Certification
  • Knowledge of state and federal rules and regulations governing confidentiality
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal program administration regulations
  • Skill in working and communicating with others
  • Understanding and ability to work with our residents
  • Demonstrates a high standard of professional conduct, professional boundaries and ethical behavior that will enhance the quality of care and encourage positive interactions among staff, participants and families
  • Valid driver’s license and appropriate vehicle insurance (liability limits of at least $100,000 bodily injury per person / $300,000 bodily injury per accident / $100,000 property damage).
  • Satisfactory Criminal Background Screening results.
  • Satisfactory Motor Vehicle Records results.
  • Computer skills including but not limited to, Internet access, word processing, video-conference, electronic medical record, report writing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Successful pre-employment drug screening with negative results required.
  • Active CPR, First Aid and AED certification required.
  • Active Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification required or a plan for timely completion.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required.
