Position Summary:  Accountable for effective management of designated satellite pharmacy and the accurate and prompt dispensing of drug therapy for patients. This position primarily involves preparing chemotherapeutic intravenous admixtures. Work is performed under the general direction of the Director of Pharmacy Operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Manages all daily activities at designated satellite pharmacy
• Prepares chemotherapy and other IVs for patient administration
• Restocks drug orders and supplies
• Monitors drug inventory to ensure that the department meets inventory goals
• Orders IV fluids and necessary daily supplies.
• Maintains all necessary logs
• Cleans and maintains pharmacy and equipment.
• Restock and maintain crash carts, extravasation kits and tackle boxes at designated satellite location
• Effectively communicate with infusion nurses and pharmacists to verify orders or request changes
• Respects the dignity and confidentiality of patients.
• Maintains a good attendance record and report on time for work.
• Maintains a professional attitude and appearance.
• Complies with clinic safety policy and procedures.
• Possesses good communication skills that lend to a team oriented work environment.
• Attends staff meetings as scheduled.
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Experience:

A high school diploma or the equivalent is required. Two to three years IV mixing and related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician by PTCB or equivalent. State Board of Pharmacy registration is required in state in which work is performed.

Must be proficient in computer applications including word processing and e-mail. Additional hours may be required.

Work Environment/Physical Demands/Travel:

• Typical clinical environment with moderate noise level.
• Ability to stand, walk, sit and use hand/wrist, climb or balance, talk, hear, see for extended periods of time.
• Ability to work with fumes or airborne particles, risk of electric shock and toxic or caustic chemicals.
• Ability to calculate weight-based dosing. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• Ability to apply understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in routine situations.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.\
• Some travel may be required.
• Extended hours may be required
