Wesley Medical Staffing is Hiring a Registered Dietitian Near Chinle, AZ

LOCATION: Chinle, Arizona
This position is Located at Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility in Northeast AZ near Canyon De Chelly National Monument. 

Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility (CCHCF) is a NAIHS facility. CCHCF provides medical care for approximately 35,000 Navajo. Serving a rural area, many of our patients travel 100 miles round trip to receive care and do not have electricity or running water in their homes. In addition, most of our elderly patients speak only Navajo, and live according to traditional Navajo cultural practices. The CCHCF and Ambulatory Care Center is a 60-bed inpatient hospital and outpatient facility. 

WORK SHIFT: 8:00am-5:00pm up to 40-hour per week as needed.

EXPERIENCE: Twenty-four (24) months of Dietitian experience, with a minimum of twelve months (12) in the specialty.

LICENSE/REGISTRATION: 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree of Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or 1-year specialized experience. Public Health Nutritionist must possess and maintain current registration with the Commission on Dietetics Registration. Need current registration with application.

Performance Based Requirements: The Candidate shall provide Dietitian in the delivery of patient care to the Indian Health Services. Specific Tasks include the following:

5.1 Dietitian Duties:

5.1.2 The Contractor shall perform nursing duties and manage patient’s needs as described in the (PD), Identified by the Service Unit and as directed by Supervisor.

5.1.2 The Contractor shall perform in accordance with the competency standards.

5.1.3 The Contractor shall provide professional Dietitian services in direct patient care as follows: a. Provide nutrition expertise in planning, implementing and evaluating inpatient, outpatient and community nutrition care, education and prevention with special emphasis on family-oriented education of the recently diagnosed diabetics.

b. Provides medical nutritional services to other outpatient clinics and not limited to Obstetrics, Pediatrics, Surgical, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, etc.

c. Participants in the continuous quality improvement process, meeting nutrition care standards of I.H.S. and J.C.A.H.O. and other regulatory agencies.

d. Reviews, selects, develops and disseminate suitable education and counseling materials for patients in the inpatient, outpatient and community setting.

e. Provides medical nutrition therapy to individuals and nutrition education to groups in outpatient or community settings directed at control of type 2 diabetes and other health conditions.

f. Conducts comprehensive nutritional assessment for all patients, developing nutritional care plans with them and their families consistent with cultural, social, and physiological requirements.

g. Plans for and participates in group teaching and training of clients, staff and community members to expand services and increase public awareness of diabetes, diabetes control and prevention.

h. Work effectively and harmoniously within the health care teams, colleagues and coworkers and with Native American patients and their families.

i. Contractor shall follow facility policies and procedures, J.A.C.H.O, O.S.H.A., I.H.S. and other federal licensing, accreditations and regulating body standards.

j. Coordinate care teams, offer guidance, and support to team members.

k. Teach and offer appropriate health education to staff, patients, and customer owners.

l. Provides consultation to professional and paraprofessional staff concerning diets and nutrition; records information in medical records regarding nutritional requirements, patient’s progress, education, follow-up, etc. and performs other related duties as assigned.

5.1.4 Contractor shall be subject to peer review per Joint Commission Standards.

5.1.5 Contractor shall meet the safety management reporting requirements in accordance with the Service Unit Safety Measure Policy.

5.1.6 Contractor shall be responsible for all applicable Federal, State, and Local Taxes, Meals, Travel/Transportation, Lodging is provided but must be paid for by the Contractor or Contract agency. Government quarters are available at prevailing rental rates plus utilities, as applicable, if government quarters are utilized. The Contactor shall be responsible and liable for the proper care of government owned or leased property furnished in occupied quarters.
