Responsibilities

The Security Supervisor is responsible to make a compelling difference in the lives of our residents through providing excellence and innovation in aging services. The Security Supervisor reports directly to the Director of Facility Operations and is responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of security throughout the community including the health care center, personal care and residential apartments. Provides direct leadership and guidance to security and overnight floor care staff to ensure that a high level of safety, security, cleanliness, quality and service is achieved and maintained and is in compliance with the PA Department of Health and the Department of Public Welfare regulations.

Security Supervisor essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides direct leadership and guidance to the security and overnight floor care staff by establishing specific standards, measurable team goals and objectives that ensure a clean and sanitary environment throughout the community.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local regulations, including the Department of Health and the Department of Public Welfare.
  • Communicates, supports and implements department and community procedural and/or program changes to department staff.
  • Participate in staff selection process. Assist in interviewing candidates for employment within the department.
  • Plans and coordinate department routine work and special projects tasks and schedule.
  • Establishes security schedule ensuring coverage with cost effective staffing levels.
  • Monitors time and attendance system for department staff. Approves time records for biweekly payroll
  • Ensures staff receive appropriate community and department orientation and training.
  • Monitors department supplies/equipment inventory and purchased appropriate levels as needed. Issues supplies and equipment to staff. Ensures staff is properly trained on the use of supplies and equipment.
  • Ensure department equipment is maintained in good working order. Obtains and schedules maintenance of equipment as needed.
  • Provides ongoing coaching, motivation, support and learning opportunities for staff to enable each staff member to perform to his/her fullest potential.
  • Ensures staff receive annual performance evaluations providing performance feedback and opportunities to discuss and review growth and development opportunities.
  • Ensures uniform and personal appearance standards are met by all staff. Sets the example with a consistently clean, professional appearance.

In the absence of security guards:

  • Make routine patrols of the entire building and grounds, observing, documenting and reporting on unusual activities.
  • Investigation of incidents of unusual circumstances reported by employees, visitors or residents, and documents them appropriately.
  • Responds to fire alarms and other emergencies in an efficient manner. Effectively communicates during these emergencies, and has the ability to remain calm during stressful situations.
  • Performs routine maintenance tasks (painting, minor repairs, systems maintenance) as needed for the comfort and safety of residents, visitors and employees.
  • Maintain all applicable logs as directed.
  • Flexible to work various hours as necessary, to include weekends and holidays.
  • Performs tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, but which may be altered or redesigned depending upon individual circumstances.

Qualifications

Related Experience: 5 year experience as a Security Guard, preferably in a similar community, hotel, or school; Previous supervisory experience in security or building management preferred.

Education or Degree Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
