WESCO International is Hiring a Director - Operations Near Honolulu, HI

Responsible for operational and financial performance of business group by providing strategic and tactical leadership to deliver sales growth, margin expansion, selling, general and administrative efficiency, and working capital improvement.

  • Manages regional operations through oversight of multiple branches with an objective of increasing sales, improving market share and driving profitability.
  • Identifies market potential through competitor analysis and strategic planning.
  • Provides guidance to regional branch and district managers in hiring and developing talent.
  • Leads district and branch managers to ensure objectives are met, including driving customer service excellence plans, setting and managing performance targets, and employee performance management.
  • Provides strategic and tactical leadership to achieve corporate goals.
  • Develops annual business plans, identifies key activities, and priorities.
  • Grows relationship with key suppliers to develop regional sales plans and actions that grow sales and profitability.
  • Works with internal marketing to develop regional sales promotions and introduce new products.
  • Implements and communicates operational strategies and solutions consistent with business plans.
  • Ensures operational excellence goals and audit requirements are met.
  • Ensures region pricing policies and plans are in alignment with sales and profitability goals.
  • Partners with purchasing department to ensure region inventory needs and goals are met.
  • Sets and monitors operational budgets.
  • Provides guidance to branch sales and operations to ensure budgets are aligned with guidelines.
  • Ensures staffing levels are met and managed.
  • Provides guidance to ensure business continuity and recovery requirements are met.
  • Assists financial services in exercising credit policies and working through non-standard terms and conditions with key customers and suppliers to manage risk and minimize potential profit loss.
  • Ensures operational policies and procedures are appropriate to business.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Operations and sales management at branch, district or, corporate level – 7 years required.
  • Managing varied organizational development projects and programs – 3 years required; 5 years preferred.

EDUCATION:

  • High School Degree or equivalent required; Bachelors’ or Masters’ Degree preferred.

SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Business and management principles, including strategic planning and resource allocation.
  • Strategic thinking skills and ability to work with senior management and regional teams.
  • Ability to identify external resources, develop, and manage relationships with customers and vendors and other external and internal service providers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills.

Working Environment:

  • General Office – Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc.

Physical Requirements:

  • Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time.

Mental Requirements:

  • Employee required to analyze and interpret complex data.
  • Employee required to problem-solve.
  • Employee required to communicate with the public.
  • Employee required to manage other employees.
