Position Summary:The Director of Software is an innovative, results-oriented leader, passionate about new development solutions, who is able to focus on both the visionary future of software development and on-market product enhancements. Must be highly experienced in driving complex cross-functional software programs and excel at effectively collaborating with team members across multiple functions and locations.

Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities Include but are not limited to:Leadership/Directing:• Demonstrated ability to build world-class, development teams through clear expectations and objectives management, coaching, career development, and smart recruiting • Manage, lead, and enable the process of change and its impact on people, process, and technology • Utilize a style that fosters teamwork – working collaboratively with others to achieve common goals and positive results - including with outsourcers and global teams

Methods/Efficiency:• Strong in process improvement – predictable scheduling, metrics, quality with a clear track record of high level success• Ability to realize development efficiencies through best practice methodologies and development tool selections• Experienced in developing and deploying effective strategic direction, working with executive management, towards establishing the product vision and roadmap, including minimizing legacy product support. Design/Problem Solving:• Proven ability to creatively solve problems and manage change• Drive the definition of software architecture and selection of technology platform(s) and the implementation of robust software systems Budget managed (if applicable)• Manages department and project budgets as appropriate• Actively involved in annual budgetary process to determine future business needs

Internal Networking/Key Relationships:• Ability to partner and collaborate with cross functional groups including mechanical and electrical engineering, manufacturing, and other groups as necessary

Qualifications

Min Knowledge & Experience Required for the Position:• A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Software Engineering/Computer Science• Experience in a regulated industry preferred• Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience as a Director or Senior Manager of software development teams• Minimum of 10 years of overall technology development experience as a software engineer or similar technical hands on position within software development• Demonstrated ability to energize and motivate teams and develop team cohesiveness • Demonstrated awareness of both current and developing technologies.• Must have strong analytical, problem solving, communication, and interpersonal skills• Experience with agile software development techniques
