Position Description:

The Full-Time Fitness instructor is a lead instructor and curriculum writer who plays a role in developing and updating courses to support students throughout their program. The components of the position focus on three major areas of responsibility: a) Teaching courses and providing classroom instruction, b) Reviewing and developing new and updated curriculum, and c) Assisting campus leadership with other administrative responsibilities, as needed, to advance the program and support students and faculty.

WellSpring School of Allied Health’s curriculum is based upon material developed by National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and prepares students for certification in NASM-based programs. Preferred candidates will possess current certification as a NASM Certified Personal Trainer.

The Full-Time Fitness instructor reports to the Director of Education and works closely with the Campus Director. The Full-Time Fitness instructor sits on the Curriculum Review Committee, and may be required to assist the Campus Director and Education Director with resolving student issues and supporting other faculty.

The position requires flexible hours, with daytime and evening available depending on program needs.

Job Duties:

  • Counsel students as necessary once the student’s instructor is unable to resolve the issue
  • Play a role in evolving the curriculum as necessary to keep pace with the needs of the profession and industry.
  • Mentor new instructors to ensure they have the training and tools necessary to effectively deliver the program.
  • Monitor how the program is being delivered/received, and work with the Campus Director and Education Director to make adjustments to contracting as necessary.
  • Provide instruction to program students at least 16-20 hours per week. Remaining hours in the work week will be dedicated to administrative time, with a primary focus on curriculum development and review.
  • Assist the Campus Director in assigning and scheduling faculty.

Job Skills/Requirements

· Demonstrate strength in instructional methodology, delivery, and techniques.

· Proven record of collaboration and working with students to prepare them in career field.

· Demonstrated ability to develop curriculum-based courses to stay current in industry.

· Display professionalism at all times and present in a way that is in the best interest of the school and the profession.

· Bachelor's Degree and current NASM-CPT certification strongly preferred.

The ideal candidate will be highly personable, outgoing and must exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills. The candidate must have excellent interpersonal abilities and have a track record of achieving results by working through other people.
