As the company's second line of defense, Corporate Risk - or Independent Risk Management - provides independent oversight of risk-taking activities. Independent Risk Management establishes and maintains Wells Fargo's risk management program and provides oversight, including challenges to and independent assessment of, the frontline's execution of its risk management responsibilities. We manage risk according to the Risk Management Framework and ensure all employees understand their individual accountability for managing risk. Corporate Risk roles depend on a variety of skills, including data analysis and synthesis, root cause analysis, change management, process management & execution, risk governance, risk strategy, risk identification & assessment, risk prevention, controls & mitigation, risk monitoring, reporting & escalation, risk systems & technology.
This role will be part of the Fiduciary & Investment Risk Oversight ("FIRO") unit of Operational Risk Coverage Programs. FIRO's program is designed to proactively and systematically identify, assess, measure, monitor, control and report on significant fiduciary and investment risks to Wells Fargo and its customers. The primary business group currently in scope for this oversight program is Wealth & Investment Management.
In this role, you will:
- Provides fiduciary risk expertise and consulting to complex business units for initiatives with high risk, generally spanning multiple business lines with a focus on the rules and regulations applicable under OCC regulations (e.g., 12 CFR 9, 12 CFR 12), OCC bulletins and handbooks covering fiduciary topics and RC-T reporting
- Provides subject matter expertise to the businesses and supporting group partners on select OCC and SEC regulations and risk topics
- Monitors the regulatory and industry environment and identifies fiduciary risk issues and may participate in development of risk ratings
- Designs and develops complex oversight strategies, methodologies and analyses for business fiduciary products and services
- Evaluates the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, processes, systems and internal controls
- Analyzes complex business and/or system changes to determine impact
- Provides consulting to business on corrective action plans and effectively managing change
- Reports findings and develops business cases to influence executive management or management committee member/head of business on the need for controls to mitigate risk
- May lead implementation of initiatives with moderate to high risk and escalate challenges to senior leaders
- Internal collaboration with key stakeholders in Corporate Risk and Business Groups for oversight of F&I risk
- May interface with Internal Audit, Legal, external agencies, and regulatory bodies on risk related topics
- May lead project/virtual teams and may mentor team members
Required Qualifications, US:
- 7 years of Operational Risk experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 2 years prior experience in fiduciary administration
Desired Qualifications:
- CFIRS, CISP, AIF, ARPC, or related certification preferred
- Strong risk management and compliance skills
- Strong background in trust administration
- Knowledge and understanding of fiduciary law and federal regulations
- Knowledge and understanding of fiduciary, investment, or planning disciplines
- Knowledge and understanding of investment risk and compliance management processes
- Knowledge and understanding of trust, fiduciary law, and federal regulations/operations
Job Expectations:
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
