Position: Software Development Intern

Reporting To: Vice President of Software Engineering

Start Date:June 5 - August 11, 2023 (dates flexible; 40 hrs per week), with potential to continue part-time (10-15h/week) into the 2023-2024 academic year.

Location: Boston, MA (Newton Office); New York, NY; or Chapel Hill, NC

Position Summary

This is an engaging position to improve the experience of internal customers within the company. You will review the existing internal tools for our Member Services staff, work with them and stakeholders across the organization to brainstorm solutions, prioritize the possible projects, pick one with the highest likelihood of success in the timeframe of the internship, implement it, and roll it out to your customers. This will give you a holistic view of the full lifecycle of a software development project, and will allow you to enhance the day to day lives of your coworkers.

The intern will be part of a small cohort from different departments that will receive mentoring and meet regularly to ensure support and learning.

Minimum Qualifications 

• Current undergraduate or graduate student with coursework in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or a quantitative discipline.
• Flexible, humble and proactive,willing to learn, adjust and adapt.
• Organized and detail oriented, able to manage deliverable timelines.
• Familiar with at least one programming language, such as JavaScript, Elm, or Haskell.
