Position Title: Senior Technical Business Analyst

Reporting to: VP Delivery & Operations

Location: Minneapolis, MN; Chapel Hill, NC; or Newton, MA

Job Description:

Well is seeking a SeniorBusiness Analyst to work alongside engineering teams with the unified goal of delivering solutions required by both the business and technology leadership. 

This individual will ensure requirements are well defined and complete in preparation for development work by the engineering team(s); maintain a close relationship with Product Managers, Tech leads & Engineers to intimately understand the scope of work required and the path in which to achieve defined objectives; serve as the primary point of contact for engineering teams to ensure focus on development is protected; and interpret and document business rules and requirements for technical delivery. 

This role will have direct exposure to new technologies as well as intelligent and experienced resources in both IT and the business. This individual will have the opportunity to wear multiple hats, expanding technical, industry, and leadership experience. They will be responsible for managing cross functional resources across changing teams in a compressed timeline, showcasing progress rapidly, and bringing new team resources up to speed quickly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build strong working relationships with Product Managers, Technology teams, and others; negotiating, influencing and collaborating effectively
  • Document and expand on basic user stories, understand inferred/implied requirements, raise concerns to both IT and the business, reduce ping-ponging questions between IT and the business by developing a solid understanding of both areas 
  • Gather and deliver customer requirements, report operational status, engage team resources
  • Organize and facilitate UAT
  • Organize, plan and drive the required work effectively and efficiently 
  • Interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels 
  • Understand when there are blockers or when a team isn't producing at full potential, help team reach maximum velocity; raise red flags related to resources/technology limitations. 
  • Identify and share knowledge, solutions and process improvements; implement such processes rapidly 
  • Facilitate meetings (daily stand-ups, value meetings, iteration planning, etc)
  • Translate business requirements to engineers 
  • QA Engineering work when necessary to push functionality forward
  • Develop into a system and platform SME
  • Work well under pressure of meeting ongoing and daily deadlines and escalations
  • Ability to execute in a fast paced, high demand, environment while balancing multiple priorities
  • Take personal responsibility for keeping all Well systems and data, including sensitive member data, secure and safe, according to Well data and security policies and HIPAA guidelines

Qualifications:

  • Early stage company mentality and desire to innovate at pace and with ownership
  • Fast learner - competent, quick study, ability to keep pace with multiple streams
  • Proven analytical ability and sound decision making skills
  • Organization, time management and prioritization skills - can keep head above surface and know the proper direction to allocate time and effort
  • Understanding of business analysis processes, agile methodologies/frameworks, organizational applications, technology integration, security concepts, smart technologies, virtual and cloud concepts, and data continuity.
  • Experience using agile methodologies to ensure rapid delivery of features in a secure and robust manner
  • Experience working with teams utilizing modern infrastructure, cloud, and information security systems and techniques
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate progress to leadership in a summarized manner
  • Team player
  • Initiate and produce value with limited direction
  • Understand core systems, applications and technical platforms
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Healthcare experience (preferred)

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and 8-10 years of Technical Business Analyst experience
  • 8-10 years of overall IT experience including software development processes, including experience planning, facilitating, eliciting, documenting and managing business, functional and technical requirements.
