Codeword is a remote-first agency, though we have physical offices in NYC, SF, and SLC that we won’t make you visit.

About You: 

  • 8 years of experience 
  • Excellent communicator, especially presentations and deck building 
  • An entrepreneurial spirit with a collaborative mindset, comfortable working with an integrated team and independently
  • Strong managerial skills and appetite for mentoring and developing the skill sets of team members
  • Creative problem-solver comfortable tackling new or vague projects
  • Great at building and strengthening relationships with clients, especially senior clients, and internal teams
  • Comfortable sharing your expert opinion on creative, writing, scopes, and presentations (without being an A-hole)

About This Role: 

The Strategy Director will report to our Strategy Team Lead, Jordan Leschinsky (who’s amazing), and will be leading the growth and development of high-quality work for one of the world’s largest tech brands. You’ll be leading a team of senior and junior strategists, and working alongside a talented group of analysts, writers, designers, and account managers to help guide the strategic thinking, planning, and creative for a variety of products and client teams with a range of needs. These can include brand and narrative development, content strategy and creative ideation, governance models and user journeys – just to name a few. 

If you’ve done some or all of this before, great! But if you haven’t, we’re looking for a strategic problem-solver who’s just as comfortable getting a team excited about brainstorming creative campaign lines for a new product launch as they are getting hands-on with a persuasive deck or organizing a few hundred pages of content into a user-friendly taxonomy or sitemap. 

The role requires a clear, effective communicator who’s able to guide and inspire clients and internal teammates. There’ll be a lot of client consulting, deck building, and supporting teammates as you help find solutions to problems that aren’t covered by any rule books or best-practice guidelines. 

Unlike most agencies, we don’t have a hard line between our creatives and strategists, and we pride ourselves on our ability to execute in a wide range of marketing disciplines. So if you like to mix it up, stop reading and apply already!

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Leading your strategy team to develop smart, effective strategies that help clients meet their goals and measure that we did.
  • Partnering with the analytics, editorial, account, and creative leads to drive business growth and deliver high quality work Codeword can be proud of.
  • Guiding the clients to better understand audiences and inspire work that will help them achieve their goals, not just answer their brief.
  • Motivating teammates on client asks and strategies, how to best achieve them, and how to make the work more strategic (they’ll be looking to you for guidance)
  • Developing junior and senior strategists to grow and improve their skill sets (presentation skills, audience insights, framework development, information organization, etc.)
  • Working with other strategists and analysts on the team to cross collaborate, share insights, and assist when needed.
  • Supporting the Team Lead in identifying and growing new business opportunities, as well as supporting the continued improvement of the strategy department overall.

For this role we’re looking to pay $125K - $145K, depending on experience.
