DIRECTOR

RALLY is seeking a Director to join our firm. The Director is responsible for leading RALLY client project teams in the strategic development and implementation of clients’ communications campaigns. Each project consists of a unique RALLY team with (generally) two to four RALLYers, an account lead, and a Principal. Each RALLYer works on several project teams at a time with a unique client mix.

Our Directors are responsible for overall client and team management. That means they are client-facing and they lead the development of account strategy, messaging frameworks, campaign plans, press plans, etc. Additionally, an individual in this position is expected to manage account teams, contribute to new business development, as well as provide support to Principals and junior RALLYers. Directors are also exposed to a wide variety of tasks and issue areas beyond their primary responsibilities. 

No two days at RALLY are the same, your day might start with leading a client check-in in the midst of a complex campaign launch then mentoring a junior colleague on how to approach their upcoming annual review, followed by finalizing a new business proposal. On a different day, you may give a staff presentation on persuasion strategies before shifting gears to prepare for a discussion with a new client on their messaging goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the development of forward-thinking branding, messaging and communications plans to achieve clients’ goals for diverse audiences, including the general public, media, political decision-makers, and other stakeholders.
  • Manage the research and discovery work, with the ability to distill key points and offer strategic insights on the information gathered, to both teams and clients.
  • Manage the performance of fundamental public relations tasks, such as developing and editing high-quality media materials, pitching and placing stories by and about clients in print, online, and broadcast outlets.
  • Develop and oversee the ongoing maintenance of impactful client relationships to ensure delivery on client needs within scope and budget
  • Provide strategic guidance and day-to-day supervision and mentorship for junior staff on assigned client accounts
  • Build and maintain fluency and expertise in the specific business areas and issues that RALLY’s work intersects with.
  • Contribute to the generation of new business for the firm via the development of new business relationships, conference presentations, and responses to RFP’s. 
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of a strong workplace culture at the firm. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ten years of experience in public interest advocacy, public relations, or demonstrated equivalent.
  • Deep and meaningful understanding of the theory and execution of public relations concepts and tactics.
  • Deep expertise developing and executing complex communications strategies.
  • Demonstrated experience with digital approaches and executions, including paid advertising, social media management, and web development.
  • Demonstrated experience using communications tools to advance advocacy on behalf of progressive issues.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating with stakeholder groups of diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong team leader with experience developing and leading teams to achieve and exceed goals.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in written/visual format, with various stakeholder groups including clients, senior leadership, and junior staff.
  • Innovative problem solver and solution finder.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Intellectual curiosity, high emotional intelligence, and sense of humor.
  • Commitment to learning, understanding, and applying DEI and anti-racist concepts in the workplace.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required for employment.
  • Bachelor’s Degree Required.
