Wausau Supply Company Quality Control Technician I is responsible for the day-to-day quality standards of all areas of our facilities including the production of goods and service that is provided to our customers. It is the responsibility of the Quality Control Technician I to maintain positive relations with all internal levels of the organization and customers.

Responsibilities

Duties to include, (but not limited to):

  • Inspect and qualify manufacturing materials and components for acceptability
  • Analyze processes, procedures, tools, and technologies for improvement opportunities
  • Develop and maintain quality standards that meet or exceed customer requirements
  • Develop and follow established inspection procedures
  • Maintaining and facilitating the calibration of measurement tools
  • Respond to the needs of customers and other internal team members
  • Review questionable/defective material and conduct root cause analysis
  • Communicate with manufacturing team to facilitate corrective actions and counter measures
  • Complete product, process, and inspection audits
  • Conduct trials, record data, and document findings clearly and accurately

Quality Control Technician Demonstrates:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Willingness to work hands on
  • Ability to work independently while portraying excellent teamwork mentality
  • Problem solving and innovative solutions to improve first pass quality
  • Ability to use various measurement tools and test equipment
  • Ability to understand technical aspects of manufacturing equipment and processes
  • Ability to maintain positive moral within the production workforce
  • Excellent Computer skills (Excel, Word, ERP, etc.)

Qualifications

Education / Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of Quality Control experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with coatings and color evaluation preferred
  • Experience with Quality Management Systems preferred
  • Lean Six Sigma and/or continuous improvement experience preferred

Working Demands / Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up 50 - 75 pounds
  • Travel required up to 10% of the time
  • Clean MVR for situations when travel is needed

Reports to: Quality Control Supervisor

Conclusion:  The Quality Control Technician position will exemplify the high standards that have come to be associated with WSC. As an ESOP owner, acting with honor, integrity, and positivity is imperative. The Quality Control Technician positions prime objective is to oversee the product and to ensure quality standards remain uncompromised.
