Overview

The Portfolio Manager is responsible for the creation and implementation of marketing and communication activities for all Wausau Supply Company Brands including our distribution brand (Wausau Supply) our Siding brand (Diamond Kote) and our door Brands (Waudena/Taylor). Their objective is to ensure our ability to deliver financial commitments today and over the next 3 years for our portfolio of brands by leading a team of brand managers and working in partnership with the Marketing Capabilities Manager, Insight Manager, and the sales team. Training of capabilities and the primary resource for the brand management team learning is the primary responsibility of this individual.

Responsibilities

Duties include (not limited to):

Training & Process Development

• Works with Marketing Capabilities manager and Marketing director to develop process and guidelines of annual planning and activation
• Sets regular training and capabilities training with brand management team as we transition our department to be more proactive and strategic

Business Assessments

• Responsible for delivering annual brand performance reviews including primary drivers of results and the learnings/results of the major activities conducted that year
• Works with the Insights Manager to ensure monthly brand reviews (MBR) delivered to directors of sales/marketing and VP by brand management team are accurate, prioritized, and actionable

Annual Planning:

• Sets annual sales/volume goals by major product grouping to achieve targets set by Marketing Director.
• Guides BM team in the development of critical drivers, strategies, and tactics to deliver against their annual brand goal; check and adjust teams as required.
• Provides the overarching plan for WSC Siding category, decking category, and door by coordinating partner brands’/ manufactured brands’ plans
• Sets marketing spend by GL for each brand and approves changes within the brand. Recommends budget cuts (as needed) and flow of funds between brands to director

Portfolio Planning

• Supports development of Portfolio strategy for the siding/door/decking category as well as manufactured brands
• Reviews manufactured brand portfolio for compliance against strategy and makes recommendations on course corrections working with the Insights Manager
• Prioritizes sales requests of marketing partnering with capabilities manager and director

Innovation

• Provides guidance to brand managers on innovation/new vendor proposals and execution

Qualifications

A Portfolio Manager will possess and/or demonstrate:

• Strong background in general business/brand management with proven track record of leading a team
• Desire and passion for developing and training brand managers
• Strong P&L, analytic, and branding acumen
• Collaborative, this is a new position with a new team and integration with other functions will be critical to success
