The Human Resources Manager will lead and direct the routine functions of the HR department including hiring and interviewing, training and development, performance management, compensation, benefits, leave of absences, employee relations, and enforcing company policies and practices. This position supervises the work of an HR Generalist and HR Coordinator and works under the direction of the HR Consultant and Executive Management team. 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Partners with the HR Consultant and Executive team to understand and execute the Company’s human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, training and development, and succession planning.
  • Provides support and guidance to HR Generalist and HR Coordinator when complex specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise
  • Handle delicate employee relations such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations. 
  • Administers leave of absences, which includes employee notifications regarding applicable policies and procedures, prepares required documents, maintains communication with employee and manager on return status, and works with payroll on pay and tracking time off for the duration of the leave. 
  • Conducts exit interviews, identifies trends, and recommends changes for improvement.
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, goal setting, and disciplinary actions).
  • Serve as an exceptional leader as mentor and inspire leadership at all levels
  • Collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings and manages the talent acquisition process, which may include job postings, recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants. 
  • Partners with managers to ensure job descriptions are up to date.
  • Assists in developing and implementing learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for team members.
  • Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Ensures Watchpoint follows established policies and procedures and with any relevant federal, state, or local legislation.
  • Assists with developing, coordinating, and recommending changes for process improvement to prevent duplication of efforts, and eliminate non-valued work to maximize performance.
  • Participate and implement in the Company’s wellness initiatives.
  • Supports safety efforts, oversees accident and incident reports and participates in the safety committee as needed.
  • Responds to management, insurance, and regulatory inquiries and reporting requirements.
  • Develops, prepares, generates, and analyzes ongoing and ad-hoc special reports pertaining to employee personnel information and data, including issues such as turnover, recruitment, EEO, compensation, promotions, etc. 
  • Works on special projects and events.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

  • Working knowledge and experience with local, state and federal employment-related laws and regulations. Recent HR experience with California-based companies.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of a diverse employee population.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field.
  • 8 years of professional-level experience in human resources.
  • Experience in managing non-exempt employees. 
  • PHR or SHRM Certified Professional credential preferred.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

  • Must be able to work in a seated or standing position for extended periods.
  • Must be able to use fingers, hands, and arms on a computer keyboard for long periods of time.
  • Must have the ability to speak clearly and distinctly, hear and be heard and understood both in person and by telephone.
