Job Duties (Will Include but Not Be Limited To)

At the core of any business operation is people. At the center of the Walser Automotive Group is culture and our ability to put our employment value proposition front and center for all employees. The Walser Automotive Group has 30 rooftops with 24 brand specific automotive dealerships. This role is designed to support a single dealership in both engaging and retaining employees. Learn and grow as a HR generalist by administering store recruitment, all onboarding and offboarding, and any companywide employee engagement initiatives. This role will also support any store specific employee engagement efforts designed by the store team. The measure of success in this role is ultimately the engagement and retention of new hires and total staff. This role will measure not only interviewing and hiring activities it will also look at participation rates in all events.

Recruiting: Support proactive recruitment activities for the store

  • Support store hourly/incentivized staffing needs by confirming weekly with managers open positions and status
    • Review and approve all requests for replacement positions
  • Work with HR Management/Corporate Recruiting to review and analyze the need for incremental staffing requests in the store
    • Provide data to leadership on current staffing to support additional headcount requests
  • Utilize company ATS (Applicant Tracking System) to review, evaluate and recommend candidates for consideration
    • Support store leadership by screening all applications/resumes
    • Ensure clarity of role, schedule, and job requirements are clear with hiring team prior to posting position and candidate interviews are scheduled
    • Schedule and conduct interviews with store hiring managers
    • Gather all interview feedback and confirm hiring decision quickly
    • Disposition all candidates quickly and appropriately
    • While the focus of this role is hourly/incentivized roles, scheduling management candidates may occur as well
    • Track all employee referrals
  • Support & facilitate certain pre-employment and pre-boarding processes
    • Initiation of job offer to Corporate Recruiting team
    • Tracking new hires within systems and with corresponding HR teams
    • Finalize entire pre-employment process and clarify with hiring manager once start date is finalized
    • Ensure hiring managers are communicating with employee once offer is accepted and ready for them on day 2
  • Support all store specific outreach efforts, referrals that occur in store as well as strategic hiring events that are organized by the Corporate Recruiting team
    • Participate in local recruiting /hiring events
    • Support Technical School recruiting programs to source technicians
    • Support College or secondary school events

On-boarding & OffboardingHelp all employees onboard effectively to their new role and ensure a compliant, smooth transition occurs in the event of a termination

  • Facilitate and Conduct Day 2 - New Hire Orientation for all new hires arriving at the store (Day 1 New Hire Orientation is done centrally at Walser’s Corporate Office)
    • Dealership tours, introductions, locker assignments, the review of timeclock and ADP time off requests as well as meals and breaks
    • Administer access to systems and tools that are not done through centralized Walser’s Smart Start process. i.e., OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) websites access, 1Micro, dealer plates
    • Support any access issues to centralized systems like CDK/Drive Centric by ensuring employee has been setup properly
    • Order uniforms, name badges, and business cards for all new hires, one offs, and all employee Fall and Spring orders
    • Maintain employee personnel files, scanning and filing all training requirements and records as they are required (new hire and annual training for all employees)
    • Ensure Hiring Manager and new hire is scheduled and attends all 30-day New Hire Events
  • Facilitate all employee terminations
    • Enter terminations in the system and ensure collection of all assets assigned to the employee
    • Ensure all assets are returned to Corporate IT once termination is final
    • Remove local system access to tools that are not covered by centralized Smart Depart process
    • Ensure backfilling position is approved and begin posting process

Employee Engagement – Make Walser a great place to work by facilitating employee participation in engagement events, informational events and celebrating the wins

  • Support and coordinate store participation in all Employee Resource Group events
  • Support and coordinate store participation in all Foundation events
  • Support and coordinate store participation in annual Open Enrollment Process
  • Support and coordinate store participation in any Companywide Events like Family Day, Annual Engagement Surveys, Walser awards events and all-hands meetings.
  • Support all store specific events like new product training, OEM launch events, employee recognition
  • Maintain breakroom bulletin boards, hang up event posters
  • Work on miscellaneous monthly store specific celebrations like birthdays, work anniversaries, monthly contest winner
  • First point of contact for location cleaning service issues, complaints, and needs, may open tickets for broken items found by the cleaning staff or employees
  • Work with Managers/HR to ensure first report of injury reporting is completed by Managers and ensure Risk & Safety process is followed.

Minimum Requirements

  • Passion for working with people and a desire to learn and grow their career in Human Resources
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage competing tasks and schedules – must be highly proficient in the use of Outlook
  • Technology proficient and willing to learn and work in key HR systems i.e., HRIS (Human Resource Information System) and ATS Note -Current HRIS is ADP, Current ATS is Hireology
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate a clear message both verbally and in writing
  • Post-secondary education and previous experience in HR; Bachelor’s Degree in an HR-related field preferred but not required
  • Strong desire to understand the business with the ability to adapt HR knowledge to support business needs

Physical Demands

  • Moving and walking around a dealerships (all areas including safety sensitive areas)
  • Sitting, standing, reaching, bending within a cubicle/desk area
  • Utilizing a computer for day-to-day tasks and electronic technology
  • Dealership environmental demands may include noise, vibration, paint, dust, exhaust fumes, other hazardous and non-hazardous materials, extreme heat and/or cold
