Plant Controller (Maine)

Responsibilities

Growing manufacturing company in Pittsfield, Maine is seeking a hands-on Plant Controller to join their team. The Plant Controller is an integral part of the plant management team as well as a key member of the corporate accounting team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for all areas relating to the daily accounting operations in Maine, focused primarily on inventory accounting. The Plant Controller will report to the VP, Manufacturing (located in Pittsfield) with a dotted line to the CFO (located in Massachusetts). This position will also communicate regularly with other company areas, such as Purchasing.

Job Duties

· Main priority is the oversight and ultimate responsibility for accuracy of ~$5 million of inventory, including quantities and unit costs

· Cost accounting and gross margin analysis

· Oversight of Cycle Count program and periodic Physical Inventory Count program

· Labor tracking

· Assist in maintenance of Bill-of-Materials, Standard Costs, etc.

· Conduct inventory reserve analysis on periodic basis

· Generate PPV and LV reports; analyze findings

· Communicate clearly and openly with corporate accounting team

· Create daily, weekly, monthly Key Performance Indicators; maintain, analyze and communicate with team on improvement opportunities

· Work with manufacturing team to drive cost improvements and manufacturing efficiencies

· Implement process improvements

· System and policy documentation and enforcement

· Ad-hoc analysis and reporting

· Budgeting and Forecasting

Skills and Qualifications

· Must have a BA/BS in Accounting 

· 5 to 8 years of accounting experience working in a manufacturing environment (cost accounting) is required

· Thorough knowledge of Inventory / Cost Accounting

· Must be PC-proficient and have strong experience working with the Microsoft Suite. 

· Experience with SAGE (ERP) very desirable
