Walker Tape is Hiring a Purchasing Agent to join our team!

The Purchasing Agent will purchase goods and services according to departmental and organizational policies and procedures.

What are the Responsibilities? (But not limited to)

• Preparing proposals, requesting quotes, and negotiating purchase terms and conditions.
• Preparing and issuing purchase orders and agreements.
• Work with vendors to ensure on time deliveries of purchase orders as well as updating databases for accurate deliveries.
• Inspecting and evaluating the quality of purchased items and resolving shortcomings. (With support of receiving clerk)
• Researching and identifying prospective suppliers.
• Evaluating products and suppliers according to key business criteria.
• Monitoring supplier performance through supplier scorecards and yearly/quarterly business reviews and resolving issues and concerns.
• Analyzing industry and demand trends, and supporting senior management with the development and implementation of sourcing strategies.
• Support supplier relationships with regular communication and negotiate supplier contracts
• Identify risks and implement mitigation plans relating to quality, cost, delivery and supply of purchases
• Identify opportunities for cost savings/avoidance
• Negotiate cost savings/avoidance and cost increases to meet company goals
• Preparing reports and maintaining accurate inventory and procurement records.
• Maintaining the supplier database, purchase records, and related documentation.
• Tracking inventory levels to determine and manage inventory needs.
• Perform inventory counts as needed
• Maintain inventory levels in systems per production builds
• Develop and manage purchasing budgets and forecasts
• Track product expirations and quality controls
• Track COGs and freight budgets
• Liaising with internal project teams and maintaining strong relations.
• Attend all meetings on time and prepared with any information to present
• Support internal process improvements to grow efficiencies and savings

Do You Fit the Bill?

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proven negotiation skills
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills 
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Thorough understanding of purchasing procedures and policies
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

Education and Experience: 

• Associates degree or equivalent experience preferred 
• At least two years of purchasing experience required 

Physical Requirements: 

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times 
• Must be able to access all areas of the facility to determine purchasing needs
