Job Summary: Lead the project and sustaining software engineering global organization based and manage different customers and delivering the quality products. This position would be based in Fort Worth and interface with customers, product managers and support teams. The leader would be expected to improve the on-time to delivery and First pass yield across the TCOS products. The leader will be part of TMDS leadership team and directly reporting to Director Engineering – Project and Sustaining Engineering. Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities: Responsible to driving >90% On time to deliver (OTD) and 80% First pass yield (FPY) on the delivery for products. Response for delivering software design and development across multiple customers Responsible for sustaining & project engineering i.e. Interface with key customers during the weekly and monthly review and addressing the escalations plans and formulates engineering activities and organizes the engineering team software groups. Works with group managers to assign engineering personnel to specific phases or aspects of engineering matters, such as technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications and technical plans in accordance with the engineering disciplines of teams. Reviews system design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards and customer requirements. Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling and resolving engineering design problems. Evaluates and approves design changes. Plans activities to ensure adherence to budget and operation objectives. Participates in development of long-range goals and objectives. Accountable for the results achieved through the activities of the train control software engineering team. Manage position to make best use of employees; select employees and develop their capabilities; plan for succession of key personnel; counsel employees effectively; administer discipline; handle human resource matters in accordance with company policy and procedures. Qualifications: 10 years’ experience in systems engineering & software design and development engineering 5 years of experience in leading Software design and development teams Good to have knowledge of configuring and interfacing with enterprise level messaging platforms and network design principles Good to have knowledge of domain modelling and entity modelling. Highly experience in Microsoft .net development including related coding languages IE: VB.NET, C#.NET, C etc. Must have broad comprehensive knowledge of structured engineering development processes with preference for experience in development of safety critical applications. Must be able to direct and coordinate engineering activities effectively to maintain company project schedules and budgets. Must have proven teamwork and interpersonal skills, with the ability to act in a mentor role, and act as an advocate for positive change. Must have the ability to create and follow standard processes and clearly document results. Must have a bachelor’s degree in engineering or business administration with 10 years’ experience of engineering managerial responsibility. Experience in the following areas is desired: Knowledge and experience with Positive Train Control systems Knowledge and experience with railroad operations Experience with development of safety critical systems Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, demonstrated by successful application of technical standards, theories, concepts, and techniques Wabtec Corporation is committed to taking on the world’s toughest challenges.
