Description

Summary

Partners with manufacturing personnel to ensure achievement of financial objectives and ensures the company’s financial performance is reported in an accurate and timely manner.

Essential Functions

  1. Preparation, accuracy, timeliness, and reporting of the overall accounting including financial planning and reporting systems with a frequency of daily, monthly, year-to-date, and annually.
  2. Clearly communicates financial performance; monitors progress and changes to keep management informed of financial status.
  3. Works with management and facilitates and leads short and long-term financial forecasting activities.
  4. Oversees weekly cash management, including cash forecasting, payment of accounts payable, collection of accounts receivable, and cash controls.
  5. Partners with operations and other cross-functional disciplines to establish desired financial results, including identifying opportunities for operational improvement, revenue enhancement, and cost reduction.
  6. Analyzes financial data, including the comparison of actual vs. long-term results, identifying, explaining, and correcting variances as required.
  7. Supports the company’s business development efforts, including participation in product pricing decisions, milestone payment development, and cost-pricing audit activities, as required.
  8. Works with Program Management in coordinating and summarizing monthly Program Profit Status (PPS) reviews, ensuring properly estimated costs to complete projects are identified.
  9. Performs account analysis and reconciliations to support month-end journal entries and month-end G/L balances, for the purpose of maintaining the integrity of the Company’s financial statements.
  10. Works with appropriate department managers and assists in the creation of metrics and key performance indicators to identify operational improvements by gaining an understanding of financial results at a shop-floor level.
  11. Oversees the training and development of department personnel and supervises the day-to-day accounting functions, accounting staff, and department meetings/communication, insuring backups for all functions.
  12. Assists in maintaining and protecting the company’s physical assets, including but not limited to maintaining an equipment inventory list.
  13. Prepares the annual budget through close coordination with other department managers, and conduct special analysis, reports, and projects, as requested.
  14. Monitors customer purchase orders, processes and maintain job files.
  15. Handles all matters related to state and federal corporate income tax.
  16. Works with other Divisions regarding inter-company matters and participates in inter-company audits as requested.
  17. Partners in the coordination of employee benefits, including enrollment, billing, and reporting.
  18. Other duties as assigned.
  19. Travel on an as-required basis.

Requirements

Required:

  1. Bachelor's or Associates' degree in Accounting, a related field, or equivalent experience. CPA license preferred. 
  2. Experience in project-based manufacturing, engineering, or related business is strongly preferred.
  3. Must be knowledgeable with every Government Prime Contracting Procedures.
  4. Assist with compliance with the company’s regulatory requirements including compliance with the FAR and DFAR.
  5. Minimum of five (5) years experience in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, Payroll, Budgets, and Financial Analysis.
  6. Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience.
  7. Experience with the appropriate computer system and financial software.
  8. History of working successfully in a cross-functional environment to maximize financial performance.
  9. The ability to identify issues, analyze and interpret data and develop solutions to a variety of moderately complex problems.
  10. Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills to accurately document, report, and present findings.
