Who we are looking for:

Vor Biopharma is seeking a motivated Accounting Manager who will be a key individual contributor. The ideal candidate will close the books, prepare reconciliations and journal entries for several areas, and ensure the Company’s financial statements are prepared timely and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. The successful candidate will work closely with other functions, including Accounts Payable, HR, Legal, and the Company’s external independent audit firm.

Key areas of responsibility:

• Coordinate and oversee the timely and accurate completion of the accounting close
• Prepare, record, and review journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations
• Work with the Assistant Controller to manage and review payroll and accounts payable, including full procure-to-pay processes
• Work with external auditors on quarterly reviews and year-end audit
• Assist with the development and documentation of accounting processes, policies, and controls and oversee SOX compliance work
• Assist with quarterly SEC reporting schedules and tie out
• Collaborate cross-functionally with other teams to operationalize and implement new systems and processes
• Research and resolve accounting matters
• Perform technical accounting research for significant and non-routine transactions
• Assist in the maintenance and improvement of accounting business processes to improve productivity and create operating efficiencies across the company
• Work with external tax consultants on quarterly tax provision and annual tax filings
• Additional duties and responsibilities as required

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Accounting required; CPA license is preferred
• 5 years of relevant accounting experience showing progressive advancement, including mix of public accounting and industry experience
• Effective written and oral communication skills
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency using ERP systems is a plus, preferably Oracle
• Comfortable with autonomy and able to adapt and thrive in a dynamic organization that values continuous, rapid improvement
