VOLUNTEERS OF AMERICA SOUTH CENTRAL LOUISIANA IS HIRING A MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER!! 

SUMMARY

Responsible for development and execution of external and digital marketing communications strategies that attract donors, increase awareness and build community engagement. Individual is responsible for activities related to public relations, media relations, advertising, promotion, publications, marketing, content creation, web and social media. Individual is responsible for internal and external brand management.JOB DUTIES
  • Works with VP, Chief Development Officer to develop and implement a media relations strategy designed to obtain positive, high quality, informative media coverage of Volunteers of America, its mission, and its programs.
  • Manages media databases and maintains ongoing effective relationships with print and electronic media contacts. Proactively seeks out media opportunities and tracks coverage.
  • Facilitates interviews with media outlets, including choosing appropriate spokesperson, setting up date and time, location, and providing talking points. May act as spokesperson when necessary.
  • Works with VP, Chief Development Officer to handle media crisis, including organization statement. Is comfortable speaking on behalf of the affiliate.
  • Tracks and reports on media coverage on quarterly basis.
  • Responsible for creation and coordination of consistent brand messaging across various channels and mediums, including but not limited to traditional media, Web and social. Must be able to communicate VOASCLA stories in a compassionate and meaningful manner.
  • Creates and distributes content for internal and external print and electronic marketing communications materials, including newsletters, brochures, the agency’s annual report and similar collateral.
  • Creates and manages content of organization’s web site and social media accounts, ensuring relevance, timeliness and support of organizational goals and objectives.
  • Work with multiple vendors to ensure high quality and timely creation of marketing communications materials and collateral.
  • Develops and employs targeted, measurable and interactive digital communications strategy utilizing social, web, e-mail marketing and SEO techniques.
  • Renews annual marketing software subscriptions.

  • Works with Chief Development Officer to over-see affiliate branding and communications.
  • Develops and implements a short and long-term integrated communications plan in conjunction with input from the VP, Chief Development Officer.
  • Acts as agency guide for brand and ensures brand integrity is upheld through all forms of external communication.
  • Establishes and supports agency-wide initiatives related to building relationships, communicating service excellence and image in communities and fields where Volunteers of America South Central Louisiana is a player.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 5 years’ experience in related field
  • Experience in organizational communications both internal and external
  • Comfortable with public speaking/Good Interpersonal skills
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills especially in publishing and editing
  • Experience with Web content management, including understanding of HTML, Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe InDesign software, Buffer, Canva, Constant Contact, and related Web applications, social media sites such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. Knowledge of Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge software is ideal.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and abilities. Incumbent must possess the ability to professionally represent the Department and Volunteers of America, and effectively interact with a multicultural and diverse workforce.
