Job description

Position SummaryResponsible for the oversight and functions of all aspects of nursing care and service delivery throughout all programs at RRYA.To direct and manage the delivery of quality nursing care services and nursing practice; to effectively integrate nursing care into patients’ interdisciplinary treatment program. To oversee all aspects of the nursing department and ensure patients are provided with quality medical care and services in a timely and responsive manner.

  • Oversees all medical and nursing documentation and ensures it is thorough, accurate and submitted timely; Ensures completion of nightly chart audits; Assists in oversight of the required documentation for S/R, de-briefings and one-hour assessments; Oversees initial and ongoing nursing assessment process for patients and ensures the assessments and other nursing required documentation are complete and timely within the requirements.
  • Oversees medication administration and works in conjunction with the Medical Director and pharmacy to monitor medications, medication delivery, MAR’s, and to minimize medication errors
  • Provides ongoing training, supervision and direction to all nurses ensuring nursing practice and hospital policies, procedures and systems are adhered to; Completes performance appraisals and corrective actions when needed and according to company policy; Performs necessary disciplinary actions when necessary
  • Actively participates in, or designates another nurse to participate in, weekly treatment team meetings; Oversees medical treatment planning
  • Follows and implements all federal, state and regulatory requirements for the nursing department; Ensures nursing department is in compliance in all areas
  • Provides training and consultation as needed to employees throughout the hospital; Participates in new employee orientation and other mandatory trainings
  • Actively serves as a key member of the Administrative team, ensuring integration of nursing services into overall organization operations; Participates in daily Flash meetings and monthly performance improvement meetings
  • Completes monthly reports as required for performance improvement and/or corporate reporting requirements
  • Develops and updates nursing policies and procedures
  • Communicates frequently with all members of the leadership team to coordinate services and programming for patients and resolve hospital and nursing issues & concerns; Oversees infection control; works collaboratively on performance improvement teams, special projects and other duties as assigned by the CEO
  • Serves as the liaison between the administrative team and nursing staff.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources Director in screening, interviewing, and hiring nursing staff
  • Serves as floor nurse for two, 12-hour shifts per week and/or provide nursing coverage in emergency situations

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Graduate of an accredited school or college of nursing. Master’s Degree preferred. Specialty certification also preferred in psychiatric nursing.

Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of recent psychiatric experience or experience working with adults and youth. Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience.

Licensure/Certification: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of OK. CPR Certification required within 120 days of employment.

Other: Knowledgeable in basic management principles and interpersonal communications. Knowledge of the professional nursing theory and practice to give and evaluate patient care. Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures to administer patient care. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of professional nursing to provide on-going patient care. Skill in identifying problems and recommending solutions. Skill in preparing and maintaining records and writing reports. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, hospital, medical staff and the public. Ability to analyze situations and apply critical thinking. Ability to communicate clearly. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Excellent communication skills required. Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation requirements and OK nursing practice regulations.

HIPAA: Has access to and adds information to the Medical Record. May only access medical records as required to perform duties.

Work Demands/Environment:

Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. In addition to lifting of patients, occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions and/or working irregular hours. Potential exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, body fluids and other conditions common to a hospital environment.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
