Summary: As a part of this, Vivint Smart Home's Innovation team is looking for a Software Engineer in Test Intern for the design and execution of automated tests that support the validation of Vivint’s customer product offerings. You will play an important role in maintaining the quality of Vivint’s industry leading smart home products. In this role, you will be working with an engineering team to improve the automated quality testing for Vivint’s camera products. You will be designing automated test cases based on identified scenarios and incorporating these into automated build pipelines. You will also help facilitate efficient result reporting to other engineers and making the development process more efficient. Primary Responsibilities: Providing fully automated testing and quality assessment for our camera product teams Implementing automated tests with an emphasis on reliability, repeatability, and metrics measurements. Integrating test solutions into CI/CD pipelines Root-causing test failures and indicator changes and driving quick resolution of product, infrastructure, and environment issues Maintaining a database of automated test cases with thoroughness and consistency Debugging and diagnosing embedded systems, video streams, and networks Frequently collaborating with teams to work towards long term automated product quality goals Required Skills: Ability to develop software in Linux operating systems Basic computer networking knowledge Proficiency working with Python and shell scripting languages. Communication proficiency in an engineering team environment Ability to troubleshoot issues with software, computer systems, and networks Ability to record results and documentation and present them on demand Ability to self-learn new skills as needed Preferred Skills Experience working and debugging with C / C Experience working with cloud platforms and applications Ability to demonstrate solid software development practices Required Education/Experience: Computer Science related concentration, or equivalent experience.
