Overview

Vitro is looking for a Transportation Analyst who will be responsible for domestic freight management for both Automotive and Architectural glass units. This role reports to the Manager of Transportation and is based out of Vitro’s Glass Technology Center in Cheswick, PA. 

A successful candidate must possess a high level of drive and professionalism, the desire to be involved in all business operations, and have proven analytical and problem-solving experience. Transportation network optimization, contract negotiation and management, and inbound/outbound supply chain knowledge are critical for success in this position. This is a fast-paced position and candidates must be self-motivated. The incumbent will face daily situations involving customer service issues involving transportation.

The incumbent will be involved with special projects, which may include part transfers and quoting lanes for competitive rates. This position supports purchasing and supply chain but aiding in carrier negotiations, supporting cost saving initiatives, and by monitoring the health of Vitro’s transportation network. The position is also accountable for analysis and reporting on daily operations, network optimization, all logistics related freight charges, and other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Monitor daily shipments to ensure on-time pickup and delivery• Proactively follow up with carriers to ensure all issues are handled quickly• Assist Vitro plants and carriers with issues that occur off regular business hours, as needed• Manually cover loads that have not been booked through the route guide by working with carriers directly and utilizing spot bids in the TMS• Supports the setup and tracking of expedited shipments• Actively works to help identify and lead network optimizations and cost savings initiatives• Supports in carrier contract negotiations for both Automotive and Architectural businesses• Helps lead annual truckload RFQ through rate evaluation and selection of service providers through strategic sourcing• Manages the supply of inbound raw materials and supports efforts in contract renewals with dry bulk carrier base• Support the establishment of the transportation budget and monitor the departments adherence to the budget throughout the year• Manages carrier contracts, purchase orders, and purchase requisitions in Ariba and SAP to pay carriers on schedule agreements• Assists plants as needed with support and training for new personnel, bringing them up to speed on Vitro’s processes, procedures, and transportation requirements• Manages the freight claims process by documenting all damages with carrier and submitting final reports to insurance, as well as other applicable parties• Supports carrier onboarding process which includes explanation of Vitro’s policies and KPIs, getting the carrier set up with TMS access, training the carrier on system semantics, and filling all contracts, certificates of insurance, W9s, and minority certificates when applicable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business or Supply Chain or Logistics• Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in transportation or supply chain• Professional certifications (CPM, PPM, CPSM, APICS, 6 Sigma, etc.) are a benefit but not required

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office• Ability to be effective and make decisions without immediate supervision

• Travel is required for this position and will be within the US and Mexico, will need a valid passport or passport application within 90 days of hire
