Role:

The Maintenance Planner position is responsible for the planning and scheduling of all Maintenance (scheduled and preventative) in a way that minimizes equipment down time and impact on production. This person is also responsible for ensuring that all maintenance technicians have the tools and parts they need to complete work order. The maintenance planner is the liaison between the production and maintenance in the organization and maintains appropriate records and files to permit meaningful analysis and reporting of results of work done. The Maintenance Planner will carry out the company vision and mission through their work, as an integral part of the Vital Proteins team. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this role will be working out of our Franklin Park, IL production location.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Responsible for processing and scheduling of all work orders to include necessity of work order, gaining approval and any engineering input that may be required.
  • Examine and determine best way to accomplish work order, obtains any drawings, and checks for availability of parts.
  • Estimate steps to be taken, labor hours and number of mechanics required, and lists materials for special equipment needed for completion of the work order.
  • Establish and coordinate preventive maintenance plans in conjunction Production.
  • Analyze trends of failures and corrects / provide input for adjustments of predictive and preventive plans to optimize the maintenance plans regularly
  • Follow factory safety & environmental objectives & targets including factory food safety and quality objectives and targets.
  • Follow the plant safety rules, reports incidents & unsafe conditions immediately
  • Maintain compliance with regulations and refer to Vital Proteins Safety programs for all related procedures.
  • Understand the environmental aspects of the position and take action to reduce these environmental impacts by conserving paper, electricity, water etc.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), report food safety and quality issues immediately.
  • Maintain compliance with all regulations
  • Manage spare parts and alignment between the maintenance department what we have in inventory
  • Manage work orders, documentation, and assets within the maintenance management system
  • Understand the food safety and quality aspects of the position as indicated on QMS, OJT's and SOP's that apply.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field (will accept a CMRP certification in lieu of a degree)
  • Must have 3-5 years’ experience in maintenance planning and scheduling
  • Preferably have a CMRP certification (Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional)
  • Preferably have TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) experience
  • Experience working with SAP or any maintenance planning tool
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams to success through teamwork and influence
  • Must be able to effectively prioritize and organize and solve problems quickly and thoroughly while focusing on continuous improvement
  • Ability to use to utilize Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Flexibility with work schedule (allowing for planning needs)
  • Must be able to read, write and understand English
