Hood Packaging is currently recruiting for a Maintenance Technician for our Hazleton, PA facility, who will be responsible for maintaining all production equipment and plant facilities in proper working condition for maximum productivity, while meeting or exceeding safety regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities
• On-Call floor technician during production day. Respond in timely manner operator calls and assess needs of equipment. Communicates with production personnel regarding problems or potential problems with equipment
• Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical equipment on flexographic printing presses, bag machines, slitters etc. Troubleshoots electrical broken wires, replace hardware, use of multimeter, thermal couples, power supplies, facility wiring. Shop equipment welding stick / TIG, drill press, lathe, mill and general hand tools.
• Installs, starts-up and shuts-down equipment according to safety procedures.
• Works with equipment vendors on installation of new equipment and coordinates efforts of equipment vendors for repairs of production equipment and building components • Works with PLC program changes (A-B Logix, Siemens S7), complete machine programming (A-B 500’s, diagnostics, drive related file transfer (Indramat, Lenz), and Profibus communication.
• Performs preventative maintenance on printing and converting equipment according to schedule and specifications. Replaces lights and ballasts as needed and identifies major components needed for inventory and orders parts, maintains required maintenance records for equipment
• Must follow safety guidelines, wear designated Personal Protective Equipment, and meet OSHA safety requirements. Follows procedures as stated in the Good Manufacturing Practices manual.
• Performs various cleaning and inspection duties to maintain SQF compliance
• Other duties as assigned by Maintenance Manager.
Qualifications
• Strong working knowledge and proven skills/experience in mechanical drives, hydraulics, and pneumatics
• Good trouble shooting abilities
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, ladder logic and equipment manuals
• Experience in electronic, mechanical, pneumatic, corrective and preventative maintenance
• Must be available for on-call
Additional desired qualifications, experience and skills:
• 1-5 years of experience as an Industrial Maintenance Technician
• Welding experience
• PLC knowledge
• Experienced with maintenance on Flexographic Printing presses and Bag machines
• Electrical experience; AC/DC and high voltage equipment
