Vista Equity Partners Management is Hiring a Director, Events Near Austin, TX

Position Summary

Vista is seeking an experienced strategic events leader to join our Marketing team as Director, Events. The role is responsible for driving the vision, strategy, roadmap and delivery of high quality internal and external events in partnership with stakeholders across the business.

The successful candidate is a strategic thinker, results-driven and self-motivated. They are mindful of goals and outcomes, how to achieve them, and how to measure success.

Reporting to the Vice President, Marketing Communications, and leading a growing events team, this role is an exciting opportunity to be a key part of re-imagining Vista events as we look to grow and scale efforts and to further build out a global team. You will work alongside and within an established Marketing Communications Team comprised of Public Relations, Investor Marketing, Content, Digital and SEO and Social Media practices.

This role can be based in Austin, TX (preferred), though also possible to be based in another Vista office - New York, NY; Chicago, IL; Oakland, CA - or Remote.

Responsibilities

  • Think strategically and be forward looking about team, budget and resources needed to execute growing annual events calendar
  • Work collaboratively with leaders across the organization to align on objectives and overall structure for global corporate events comprising events for Vista investors, Vista team members, Vista portfolio companies and others
  • Lead and directly manage a team of planners, including staffing decisions and supporting professional development and growth
  • Work closely with external relationships (agencies, vendors) and work with cross-functional internal teams to develop and successfully execute programs
  • Manage and contribute towards creative problem solving in an ever-evolving environment, improving current team and event processes to optimize team’s operational efficiency and effectiveness
  • Conduct internal launch calls, present to executives/stakeholders on events
  • Provide clear, consistent and timely event, budget and function updates to Marketing leadership

Qualifications

  • 12 years of related experience in events with a deep level of leading strategic/executive events.
  • 8 years of corporate event experience
  • Demonstrated experience in people management
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, influence and work across organizational boundaries, including a broad range of peers and executives
  • Problem solver at heart, with the ability to identify root cause and propose realistic solutions in a structured, thoughtful manner to senior business stakeholders from varied functions and at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams concurrently with consideration for prioritization, complexity, influence and levels of involvement required to advance initiatives
  • Exceptional organizational instincts and skills that provide order, clarity and visibility at the macro and micro level for all involved parties
  • Drive innovation on the team with a willingness to experiment with the ability to balance “big picture” thinking with tactical execution
  • Management experience with the ability to coach and develop personnel against a high set of standards: project management, time management, scheduling know-how, task management, delegation, stakeholder relationship management and agency management
  • Deep comfort level with program analysis, measurement, reporting and pipeline impact
  • Comfort in operating in a multiple stakeholder environment and across various time zones
  • Willingness and ability to travel as/when required
  • Strong financial acumen and proficiency in budgeting management and software
