Visiting Nurse Association serves the communities of Southeast Missouri by providing Hospice, Home Health, In Home, CDS, Senior Companion, Private Duty and Advanced Illness Management services. VNA currently has an administration position open for a Billing Specialist. Requirements:

Education High School Graduate; some college preferred, or business school courses.

Experience Minimum of 2 years in Healthcare Medicare Billing experience preferred

Job Responsibilities:

• Check for Home Health Medicare ADRs (Additional Documentation Request) daily. Provide information to Clinical Operations Manager if research is needed.
• Check for bills that could not be keyed at the time of billing due to missing orders etc.
• Check the HCY ones to see if their PA has been posted on Emomed. Key HCY after they have been posted.
• Prepare A/R for HH Medicare and for HSP Medicaid. Research any unpaid balances and get them corrected or add to bad debt if applicable. Pull the Aging Report monthly.
• Bill all HH co-pays, deductibles, and any other patient responsible amount to the patients monthly. Send any new statements as I am given the EOB from other billers. Send balances to collections as necessary after discussion with CFO/COO.
• Remove all medical supplies when asked by Branch Office Managers.
• Bills cost of service to all third party payors on the patient, based on the intermediaries billing schedules.
• Seeks new knowledge to enhance operations of billing department
• Maintains awareness of changes in billing procedures for Home Health and Hospice
• Maintains "general" knowledge of all billing tasks so as to assist during periods of peak work load
• Monitors all billing related activities to ensure compliance with HIPAA policies. Reports any breaches to Compliance Officer.
• Communicates with members of the management team to keep them abreast of issues that relate to billing regulations.
• Responds to all requests for documentation and works with all directors to assure that Medicare is notified in a timely manner.
• Assists in maintaining unpaid Medicare visit records.
• Maintains patient A/R.
• Reviews Commercial Insurance and Medicare Advantage Policy Reverifications on the 5th of each month.
• Provides assistance in preparing data to independent and Medicare auditors.
• Research any problems with the Prospective Payment System
• Assists with Home Health month end revenue recognition procedures.
• Answers correspondence regarding billing problems and charges as they arise.
• Backup for Case Manager when needed.
• Check for Hospice Medicare ADRs (Additional Documentation Request) daily. Provide information to Hospice Director if research is needed.
• Backup for billing all HSP co-pays, deductibles, and any other patient responsible amount to the patients monthly. Send any new statements as I am given the EOB from other billers. Send balances to collections as necessary after discussion with CFO/COO.
• Pull the Aging Report monthly.
