Job Summary:

The University of Colorado, College of Nursing is seeking an energetic leader to serve as the Specialty Director of the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Adult-Gerontology Program. The ideal candidate would be qualified to hold a full-time 1.00 FTE faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor in the Clinical Teaching Track. The faculty member will have dedicated time to serve as the Specialty Director of the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Adult-Gerontology Program, with remaining effort coming from teaching and/or practice. Less than full-time 1.00 FTE is also possible and would be discussed with identified finalists. Faculty rank will depend on the candidate's qualifications and experience.

The ideal candidate will have recent clinical nurse specialist (CNS) adult-gerontology and practice experience as well as a track record of excellence in academic teaching. Responsibilities include participation in the teaching, practice, and service mission of the College of Nursing and the University of Colorado. Demonstration of academic leadership such as curricular/program development is preferred. Within the College of Nursing, service and scholarship to the University and the College are an expectation of all faculty members.

This faculty position involves didactic and clinical teaching responsibilities as well as administrative responsibility for the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Adult-Gerontology Program including securing clinical placements for graduate students with support from the CU Nursing Experiential Learning Team. Didactic courses are taught in the classroom, online, or in blended formats. Supervision of clinical courses includes clinical conferences using online conferencing and close communication with clinical preceptors.

Duties:

* Instruct and facilitate meaningful learning of the course outcomes in the curriculum and proactively support all facets of the learning environment.

* Provide education through learning-centered instruction that will enable graduates to fulfill the evolving needs of the marketplace.

* Encourage a culture of learning that values mutual responsibility and respect, life-long learning, diversity and ethics as well as personal and professional development.

* Participate in activities that promote the stature of the academic programs and the College of Nursing as well as abide by the mandates set by the University of Colorado, and the College of Nursing.

* Suggest teaching assignments within the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Adult-Gerontology Program as well as accept teaching assignments as determined by Division Chair/Assistant Dean/Associate Dean.

* Participate in course, curricular, and program revisions/development.

* Recruit- students in collaboration with student affairs and ensure the growth of the program to meet strategic enrollment targets.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Assistant Professor of Clinical Teaching, Associate Professor of Clinical Teaching, or Professor of Clinical Teaching based on experience and qualifications as indicated below.

Assistant Professor:

* A Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or an earned doctorate in an appropriate field of science, nursing, social science, education, or related field from an accredited institution of higher education.

* Experience working as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Adult-Gerontology.

* Hold current certification for Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), provided the certification it is not in Pediatrics or Neonatal to meet program requirements.

* Eligible to obtain an unencumbered nursing license in the State of Colorado.

* A record of demonstrated effectiveness in teaching, collegial collaboration, and commitment to a program of scholarship to qualify for the rank of Assistant Professor in the Clinical Teaching faculty track.

Associate Professor:

* A Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or an earned doctorate in an appropriate field of science, nursing, social science, education, or related field.

* Experience working as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Adult-Gerontology.

* Hold current certification for Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), provided the certification it is not in Pediatrics or Neonatal to meet program requirements.

* Eligible to obtain an unencumbered nursing license in the State of Colorado.

* A record of demonstrated effectiveness in teaching, collegial collaboration, and commitment to a program of scholarship to qualify for the rank of Associate Professor in the Clinical Teaching faculty track.

o Minimum qualifications for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor include recognition as an expert teacher and sustained commitment to a program of scholarship.

Professor:

* A Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or an earned doctorate in an appropriate field of science, nursing, social science, education, or related field.

* Experience working as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Adult-Gerontology.

* Hold current certification for Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), provided the certification it is not in Pediatrics or Neonatal to meet program requirements.

* Eligible to obtain an unencumbered nursing license in the State of Colorado.

* A record of demonstrated effectiveness in teaching, collegial collaboration, and commitment to a program of scholarship to qualify for the rank of Professor in the Clinical Teaching faculty track.

o Minimum qualifications for appointment at the rank of Professor include recognition as a master teacher, sustained leadership in teaching, expertise in curriculum development and teaching innovations, and a sustained commitment to peer reviewed scholarly work.

Preferred Qualifications:

* 4 years' experience working as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Adult, Adult-Gerontology, or Adult Critical Care

* Demonstration of academic leadership such as curricular/program development.

* Demonstrated success in teaching across nursing programs from undergraduate to DNP.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Assistant Professor of Clinical Teaching: $95,000 to $115,000 annually at 1.0 FTE

Associate Professor of Clinical Teaching: $115,000 to $125,000 annually at 1.0 FTE

Professor of Clinical Teaching: $130,000 to $155,000 annually at 1.0 FTE

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
