Description

At Washington Surgery Center, we serve patients who reside within and outside the Washington, MO area. This unique, state of the art facility allows our skilled surgeons to perform surgery using the most technologically advanced equipment available, in a comfortable atmosphere. Our staff are experienced professional, prepared to address every question concern and needs our patients may have. We're committed to providing each patient individualized personal treatment that exceeds their expectations. 

We are currently seeking a temporary Business Office Coordinator who will be able to assist our team for approximately 3 months starting around May 2022.

The Business Office Coordinator is responsible for coordinating administrative and patient registration functions of the ambulatory surgery center (ASC). Work independently to manage his/her own daily responsibilities including general office operations; patient insurance verifications and pre-collection; patient registration; preparation and maintenance of medical records; coordinate and maintain surgery day schedules with ASC team and staff at each surgeon’s medical practice; answer incoming calls; facilitate and maintain compliance with all policies, procedures, and regulations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Answer incoming calls; verify patient insurance and register patients.
  • Prepare and maintain medical records.
  • Coordinate and maintain surgery day schedules with ASC team and staff at each surgeon’s medical practice.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Overtime may be required based on business needs.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS (Experience, Skills and Education):

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Excellent level proficiency with Microsoft software.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, determine priorities, and self-manage time.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Capable of working with diverse, multi-disciplinary teams and interacting with staff at all levels inside and outside of the organization.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of integrity and confidentiality relating to patient health information (PHI) and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPAA) requirements.
  • Experience in ASC or medical office administration, business, finance, management, ophthalmic industry preferred.
  • Track record of progressive responsibility in previous job.
