VIPcare is a quality-based healthcare organization that focuses on prevention. We encourage four well visits per year, proactive outreach to our most fragile and at-risk patients, same-day urgent appointments, and transitional care management. 

THE OPPORTUNITY:

Coordinates coding of inpatient and outpatient charges to in compliance

with federal and state law.

Essential Duties:

  • Responsible for coding of inpatient and outpatient charges.
  • Verifies appropriate documentation of medical records and charge coding for inpatient and outpatient charges.
  • Reviews claim denials with billing coordinator to ensure appropriate use of billing codes.
  • Performs annual audit of patient medical and billing records to ensure compliance with federal and state law.
  • Responsible for updating physicians and staff on billing and coding inaccuracies.
  • Reviews and updates encounter form on an annual basis.
  • Reviews and updates new, existing and deleted codes. Provides education for physician and staff on changes as they occur.
  • Supervises the timely completion of patient disability forms.
  • Supervises the maintenance of the office, hospital and meeting schedules.
  • Other duties as requested by Practice Administrator

Non-Essential Duties

  • Assist with surgical scheduling when necessary.
  • Follow up pathology labs as requested by physicians.

Qualifications: Employee must be able to perform essential and nonessential duties satisfactorily. The individual must be able to multi-task and have a strong attention to detail.

Education and/or Experience: High school graduate or equivalent. Must have certification in CPT and ICD-9 coding.

Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend instructions. Ability to communicate with patients,physicians, customers, and management.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Computer Skills: Employee must have knowledge of Medical Billing Software and Microsoft Office including Word ad Excel. Strong PC skills and well versed with using Internet applications.

Physical Demands: While performing the above duties, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
