The Village of Hamel is currently accepting applications for Police Chief. Our growing community is seeking an experienced law enforcement professional to help our Police Department continue to grow. Qualified candidates must be currently certified as FULL TIME by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board (ILETSB) or have a waiver issued by them. Candidates will be subject to a background check, pre-employment drug screen and must possess a valid Illinois Driver’s License.
This is a leadership position that requires dedication and flexibility in scheduling. While most shifts are Monday - Friday, the candidate may be required to work some nights/weekends/holidays as necessary. Experience managing officers, setting schedules, and maintaining state and federal compliance are highly valued. Code enforcement and coordinating with other LEO’s will be a strength of this candidate.
Pay scale is $28-$30 per hour and we offer a $500 per month health insurance stipend.
